Feminist Abortion Provider
Review for Feminist Abortion Network Inc, Yakima, WA, USA
The Feminist Abortion Network, or FAN, is a collective of the Fourteen remaining non-profit feminist based abortion care providers in the US. The work of these providers in their communities in providing patient centered care is the historical roots of feminist health care. The scope of care delivery for each clinic is based in specific community needs and culminates in a national impact on quality abortion care.
Due to the lack of a national presence for these independent feminist clinics, FAN was formed to represent the unique strengths, tenacity and diversity of these providers in the larger ecosystem of abortion care providers. Many of the original feminist clinics that opened in the early seventies to address the lack of abortion care post Roe v. Wade have closed over the years. FAN is committed to keeping our remaining member clinics open to serve the true needs of the vulnerable and historically marginalized communities, still not adequately served in our country. And to represent our consituents on a national level

Since working together with FAN to collaberate, create national strategies and to share resources we have more of a sense of the feminist roots that have initiated and sustained abortion care access to marginalized populations. The formation of FAN is fairly new, but the ideals and values among the members are the true basis of reproductive justice and the inspiration to many who have worked in this area of health care for decades.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Because the tasks of running clinics that provide abortion care can be all consuming in this political climate, FAN would benefit from having resources and personnel to focus specifically on the collective activities. Currently it requires additional work on the part of clinic staff to carry out FAN efforts, and can place a strain on these smaller organizational structures.
Review for Missoula Urban Demonstration Project, Missoula, MT, USA
My daughter was a volunteer and staff member of MUD, during her studies at UM in environmental studies. I believe this experience helped form her interest in sustainable agriculture. I enjoyed becoming more familiar with MUD's work and their role in our community. They have been around for a long time and were one of the pioneers in community gardening and information and resource sharing to help others engage in their mission.

Encourage support to assist the orgnization in having enough funding to support more non-volunteer staff. A challenge for many non-profits and something that can help with consistency and stability for an organization that is valuable to a community.
