Review for Camp Blessing Texas (formerly Camp Barnabas Tx), Tomball, TX, USA
My daughter was the 21st person in the world diagnosed with Smith-Magenis Syndrome. Most people do not understand my daughter and her disability which causes much isolation and a lack of people who are in our lives. In steps Camp Blessing... my daughter is not only accepted, but loved and valued for who she is. She talks about camp all year and lives for the day she will step into a world where she is valued. Every year when I go pick her up and get a small dose of what she experience mt heart cries with gratitude for this wonderful Camp which truley is Camp BLESSING!!!! I just wish the rest of the world could be like Camp Blessing. That would be a place I would love to live.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
I have watching my daughter expand and grow as a person when she has the love and acceptance at Camp Blessing. I get to spend about a 2 hour period at the end of camp and am always dramatically affected by the incredible atmosphere. Just being there for 2 hours gives me a boost to keep on fighting for my daughter in a world that can be very hard!
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
The only change I would make is to get more people invovled volunteering. People are missing out on one of the greatest experiences they could have. Each year as i speak to the volunteers they tell me that Camp Blessing is a life changing experience. They say that they never want to miss a summer of coming to Camp Blessing!
