FORT LAUDERDALE CHILDREN'S THEATRE
February 7, 2011
My family has been involved with Fort Lauderdale Children's Theatre for the past 5 years and it has changed our lives for the better. All four of us have become very involved in performing as well as volunteering in many capacities, including performing shows for disadvantaged kids, mentoring kids in summer camp, fund-raising for the literacy and anti-bullying programs and helping to market the theatre, including their outreach programs.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
many ways. The staff are talented, motivated people who work incredibly long hours and are devoted to the kids they teach. The life skills these kids learn at the theatre are invaluable and include discipline, organization, motivation, confidence, tolerance and team work. For almost 60 years, FLCT has been like a second home for any child who wants to participate, and no child is ever turned away due to lack of funds.
Ways to make it better...
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Find them more money so they could reach more people!
Board Member & I have been a volunteer and a Board member and help with marketing and raising awareness of our literacy & anti-bullying programs taught to at-risk kids in public school.
