Review for The Jazz Gallery, New York, NY, USA
A place like Jazz Gallery is essential to New York City's jazz landscape. It continuously fosters the next generation of voices in the jazz field by consistent bookings of today and tomorrow's artists, most of which call New York their home and who deserve to be heard by more, and more often. They take great care and pride in providing a true listening experience where what art the musicians are providing in sound gets proper listening attention and that the all-important musician to listener relationship is not only facilitated but encouraged. One hopes the Jazz Gallery will forever have its place amongst the countless NYC jazz clubs and venues that this city boasts.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
...on a regular basis as I am a regular visitor to the club, being co-founder and Managing Editor of the monthly free jazz guide, AllAboutJazz-New York (www.aaj-ny.com).
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
They are doing a fine and excellent job. I only wish they were able to bring in more out of country talent (which they have done on occasion in collaboration with cultural institutions), though I understand the financial complexities of such bookings. But such cultural exchanges using jazz from other cultures and countries does complement their overall mission and purpose.
