Review for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, Norfolk, VA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

PETA gets results, period. That's why I have been donating to them for the last 16 years and will keep on giving them as much money as I can afford. I would wish for personal wealth solely to give it to PETA. I am continually impressed by the inventive strategies they deploy to effect change for animal welfare, like becoming stockholders in soulless corporations and gaining entry into their meetings. I have also had the privilege of meeting a number of PETA staff and to a person they are obviously deeply dedicated to their brave calling. They are heroes in my book. This is urgent work and there is no point to playing nice with animal abusers.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

PETA has a strong record of "firsts," including getting the first-ever conviction of a vivisector in the US, the first confiscation of abused animals from a lab, and the first US Supreme Court for animals used in experiments. I live on the West Coast and am thrilled to witness the opening of a new LA home, thanks to Bob Barker's extraordinary $2M gift. Partnering with media celebrities is a very effective way of getting attention and raising awareness.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Generously endow their administrative expenses so they can push their work ever farther throughout the world, with competitive salaries and benefits for all staff.

Role:  Donor & I buy products from PETA, like the cruelty-free shopping guide, and get them out in public. .
