The Andrew Goodman Foundation Inc.
November 15, 2010
I work for NRDC (the Natural Resources Defense Council). The Andrew Goodman Foundation honored our President Frances Beinecke as a "Hidden Hero" in 2009 and has helped support our environmental justice work. Andrew Goodman and his family are an inspiration to all of us here. Thanks in part to the Goodman Foundation, we were able to win a major environmental justice victory in the South Bronx, when our lawsuit pushed New York City to agree to resolve long-standing community concerns regarding odors and emissions from sewage facilities in that area. The Goodman Foundation has also helped NRDC work to protect Tennessee African American families that are suffering from cancer caused by contaminated drinking water wells as well as Latino families adjacent to the ports of Los Angeles, where our work is helping clean the air by phasing out the use of older, more polluting trucks at the ports.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
The support the organization has provided to our efforts and the organization's 2009 "Hidden Heroes" award ceremony.
Ways to make it better...
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
No changes to suggest. The Goodman Foundation is doing wonderful work.
