Review for Florida Research Institute for Equine Nurturing Development & Safety, Inc. aka F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Horse Rescue, Fort Lauderdale, FL, USA

Rating: 5 stars

This place is amazing. I feel lucky that I have had the opportunity to see FRIENDS "morph", grow, and change into what it is today. Over the last 30 years, there have been thousands of people that have come to volunteer or sponsor a horse. Some things have changed, but when people leave or move away, then they come back years later to see the horses, or if there were any of the horses they knew, were still alive, they all say the same things. I still feels like home, and they tell the people that are there now how much they've missed the place. They missed the horses, the safe hide away where they always had fun, and how they felt like they grew up there. For as much as the people did for the horses, they all say they got so much more from the horses they helped care for and loved. If it has been a minute since you've been out, make time to come by soon.

I was introduced to this organization in 1996 and I have seen them grow and evolve in leaps and bounds. The care of the horses is what it's all about and they look amazing. Their goal is to care for each and every horse and to make them flourish. They have the full support of their sponsors and members who make it all happen. The people care so much, invest their time and efforts to make this the BEST HORSE RESCUE in BROWARD COUNTY. They do a GREAT JOB.

F.R.I.E.N.D.S. is an awesome place for the horses. The horses get to be horses and are not used for hard riding. They receive better care than most barns. The place is great for people who love horses and for people who can not afford one. They can either volunteer and spend their time with the horses and other animals or sponsor one of their own. The place has a warm atmosphere and it makes your time out there memorable and you feel you've accomplished something every time you go. If you love horses you should go and check out the place. I can guarantee there is no other place like it in Broward County. The people out there love the animals and they always put them first.

F.R.I.E.N.D.S. is a great place for anyone who likes being outside, hard work and horses. The members and volunteers work tirelessly every day to ensure the horses are healthy and well cared for. The people always put the horses needs before their own needs or wants. Their cause is admirable and the people are extremely caring and generous. It truly is one of the best rescues I have ever seen. In fact, most barns I see are not as kept up as F.R.I.E.N.D.S. nor do their horses look as good.

An awesome place for people who want to "test the waters" with their families getting involved with horses without spending a small fortune to "try it out". They offer an affordable program that can accomidate both people who want a horse they don't have to share with anyone and also a program sharing a horse for those who can't be there every day. They have a unique set up where all the feeding, stall cleaning and "work" can be done by volunteers or if you want the complete "hands on experience" you can do it yourself. The price can not be beat by any barn locally. There is no "term lease" involved. The staff is helpful and so are the members as they all share the same attitude. "Everyone was a beginner at some point". If you have an interest in horses, you are welcome to just volunteer as well.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I get enourmous satisfaction watching the horses they rescue blossom as they gain back the weight and the strength they lost at the hands of someone else.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Try to find them a professional fundraiser to help them raise the funds they so desperately need.
