Review for Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, Alexandria, VA, USA

Rating: 1 stars

Although this site doesn't have the SSCS's 2010 Form 990 yet, it shows that Mr Watson's salary increased to $121,000, that is a 26% increase even though their revenue went down. I wonder how many of their donors got a 26% raise?

The Sea Shepherds are constantly breaking laws they disagree with and just call it 'direct action' rather than what it is, criminal activity. Earlier this year they asked for donations to replace a vessel that sank. The only problem is they didn't own the vessel, so they had no lose, but from their pleas for money you would have thought that they just lost their own $3 million boat

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

them asking for donations to replace equipment they never own so never lost.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

be more upfront with the donors about what donations are actually for. Also maybe cut back on the criminal activities before they get someone killed.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

leaving.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

just interested in donations.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

spend all of it with no effect. Then ask for more.

Ways to make it better...

they had been upfront with why they were asking for more money.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

their criminal activity destroys their credibility.

One thing I'd also say is that...

their founder is an avowed liar who has stated that lying for a purpose is OK.
