Review for Southern California Golden Retriever Rescue, Encino, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

We adopted a Golden Retriever last summer from SCGRR. He's the perfect match for our family, and I am still so amazed at all the work these volunteers do for these dogs. If it wasn't for this organization, we wouldn't have our beloved dog. I am so thankful to SCGRR from the bottom of my heart, forever and always!!

I follow SCGRR on Facebook and continue to be amazed at the level of dedication of the volunteers. They are extremely phenomenal!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

adoption of our Golden

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

get them more money!

I have always loved Golden Retrievers, and they will have a place in my heart forever. We lost our 10-year-old Golden in Februrary, and knew that we wanted to give a rescue Golden a home with us. At the end of March we had our in-home interview which went extremely well. I started monitoring the SCGRR website, looking for the Golden that would be the best fit for us, a little more difficult than usual since we needed a cat-friendly Golden as well as being compatible with young children. In July, I found a female Golden on the website and made an inquiry. I had an immediate response from this Golden's representative, and we were soon told that we could come meet her. We made the 3-hour trip to Los Angeles, met the Golden, fell in love with her, and decided we'd take her home. She seemed perfect for us, and both her foster Dad and her rep felt she would be fine in our home. Unfortunately, she became severely depressed and retreated to our bathroom. My dad brought his dog over to play, and she immediately came out of her depression and played and played with my dad's dog. When my dad and his dog left the house, she quickly returned back to the bathroom. It was very obvious she needed another dog in her home, and that just wasn't possible for us. It was very difficult to contemplate what we needed to do as we were very much in love with this beautiful girl, but we wanted her to have the best home and be happy. Her rep, foster Dad, and I arrived at the difficult decision for her to go to a different home. Her rep arranged to drive to our home (3 hours away) and pick her up. She brought another Golden with her that we could meet. His name was Bob and he was rescued from the streets of Taiwan. We met Bob, and this time, it did indeed seem like we had found the dog right for our family. We renamed Bob "Luke," and 2 months later, we are so happy and blessed to have him with us. We are so grateful to SCGRR for everything they did for us in assuring we had the Golden best suited for our family. In my opinion, they went above and beyond what a volunteer-manned rescue group would do. Thanks, SCGRR!!!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the adoption of our wonderful rescue Golden, Luke!

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

find ways to get them more money!!

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

our great dog!!

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

beyond caring and dedicated--people that would be my friends!

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

do such fantastic and extraordinary things--oh how the lives of these dogs would change!!

Ways to make it better...

we could have kept Luke in addition to the female!!

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

the need for more money.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Southern California Golden Retriever Rescue is the BEST!!
