Review for St Pete Free Clinic, St. Petersburg, FL, USA

Rating: 5 stars

The St Petersburg Free Clinic has 5 major programs providing basic needs: food, shelter and medical care. It provides these services very efficiently, but also treating each client with the greatest dignity. Donated funds are the lifeblood of the organization. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to make a difference, one person at a time.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I've seen and heard the tremendous appreciation of our clients. Mothers and fathers have food for their children. Homeless women have a fresh start and support toasted a new life.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Add money for dental services which are much needed in our community for those without the ability to pay.

Role:  Board Member & I serve on the Board and as a volunteer in the food pantry. I'm also a donor. .

Review for St Pete Free Clinic, St. Petersburg, FL, USA

Rating: 5 stars

The St. Petersburg Free Clinic focuses on meeting basic needs -- food, shelter and medical care. In my experience, The Free Clinic is a VERY good steward of its resources. Programs include a Food Bank serving the Clinic's programs and 50 other agencies, We Help (food pantry and other immediate assistance and referrals), the Free Clinic (ambulatory care and referrals for those who do not qualify for any other programs), Beacon House (men's shelter and transitional residence) and the Women's Residence (transitional housing and program for single women). Volunteers provide invaluable assistance in delivering all of the services of The Free Clinic. The staff is lean and effective. Community financial support has made each service possible for the many people in need. I would highly recommend support of this organization.

volunteering in the We Help program (food pantry) and serving on the Board of Trustees

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

The organization is very strong; I would only wish for capital funds to make much needed repairs or replacements to our buildings.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Volunteers, staff, and donated goods are all used judiciously to help those in real need. I feel strongly that my time and resources given are making a real difference in people's lives.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

The staff and volunteers are organized, knowledgable and committed. Many volunteers have been there for years and years.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Build new, more functional facilities for the Women's Residence, Beacon House (men's residence), Free Clinic and Food Bank.

Ways to make it better...

I can't imagine what would have made it better.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Given the needs of the poor and working poor in St. Petersburg, the possibilities for The Free Clinic to provide assistance tend to outstrip our resources. So, I think our biggest challenge will continue to be resources.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Our buildings are old and in need of constant repair. Capital funds to replace one or all of our buildings to be more functional would be terrific!

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2010
