Share Self-Help for Women with Breast or Ovarian Cancer, Inc.
June 15, 2010
I am one of the women who founded SHARE in 1976 - the charter vice-President. SHARE began at time when there was little information for survivors or breast cancer and one did not easily come out with the fact that you had the disease. I had a mastectomy, without reconstruction, in 1975. SHARE helped me to talk about my cancer, to get in touch with my fears about it (my sister had died of breast cancer 5 years earlier) and helped me resolve to help others like me. SHARE still does all these things and does them well. In addition SHARE is a leader in spreading the word about the need for more research, more search for a cure and more support for survivors.
