While other literacy organizations focus on life after age 3, Read To Grow educates a parent on the day of that child's birth about the critical importance of reading to the child immediately while the brain is developing. By meeting with the parent/s in the hospital, they learn that literacy is to a healthy mind/life as nutrition and the avoidance of disease is to a healthy body. This is a unique program that exists nowhere else.

a restaurant in Hamden CT. Our waitress interrupted us as we spoke about Read to Grow."I gave birth to my daughter last month. Read To Grow's packet taught me that reading to her right away would help her become more than a waitress. Thank you!"

the universal agreement of every group -- donors, staff, Board members, collegues -- as to th critical importance of the mission. If a child is not reading on grade by age 12, you can mourn the death of that child's academic opportunities.
