My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for Read to Grow, Branford, CT, USA
While other literacy organizations focus on life after age 3, Read To Grow educates a parent on the day of that child's birth about the critical importance of reading to the child immediately while the brain is developing. By meeting with the parent/s in the hospital, they learn that literacy is to a healthy mind/life as nutrition and the avoidance of disease is to a healthy body. This is a unique program that exists nowhere else.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
the universal agreement of every group -- donors, staff, Board members, collegues -- as to th critical importance of the mission. If a child is not reading on grade by age 12, you can mourn the death of that child's academic opportunities.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
passionate, thoughtful, committed, caring and determined.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
bring the program into every birthing hospital in the country ( for a little more, it could be brought worldwide) and change the lives of millions of children.
