This not-for-profit has no overhead- all positions are filled by volunteers. The NYC Parks Department does not have the financial resources to support mounted patrols of the City's Parks.. Unfortunate since horse patrols have been shown to not only be the most effective, but also the most comforting to tourists. The volunteers patrol their assigned park all day, riding with either another volunteer or with a professional officer.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Positive comments from patrons that we assisted. Most needed directions to the nearest rest rooom....

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Cover more parks.

More feedback

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

A chance to help people and to be with the horses.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

From every walk of life- the only thing they had in common was the ability to ride.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Build a public riding facility in Central Park

Ways to make it better...

Weather did not cooperate- the horses seeemed to love the cold weather- I didn;t

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Financial- some of our biggest donors were hurt badly by the financial melt-down.

One thing I'd also say is that...

About every month

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

Volunteer & During the Patrol we gave directions to numerous tourists, as well as allowing several park patrons to take photos with the horses. We also tactfully reminded a patron that his dog was not permitted to be off the leash.
