The Great!
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
Visiting some of the Chestnut orchards that they have established, one at the Moshannon State Forest and one at Penn State Ag Progress Days site.
Ways to make it better...
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
If monies were available to modernize facilities and allow more research, things could be improved and moved forward at a much accelerated pace.
More feedback
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
Seeing the progress they are making towards the goal of restoring the American Chestnut to our forests.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
Honest, genuinely friendly and very helpful folks.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Shorten the time required to get Chestnuts back into the forest by 20 years.
Ways to make it better...
I had a locally based group to work with, and I had more time to volunteer.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
Future funding and volunteer labor. This effort needs to be sustained for probably another 50 years, and it is difficult to keep things going for that length of time.
One thing I'd also say is that...
Getting the chestnut back into the forest is important, but we should make sure that every effort is made to insure that the trees are the best they can be before they are released for wholesale distribution.
