Review for Grist Magazine, Inc., Seattle, WA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Garbage has been my game for 20 years this June: recycling, waste prevention, and compost. Plus I stir up climate change issues where possible. All this needs the ballast of humor. I love Grist for bringing humor as well as rigorous reporting to the hard environmental issues of our time. Make me smile! Here’s where I’m plugging my pet project Washington Green Schools www.wagreenschools.org – new and rockin’ – 89 schools in the state already active, and 12 have qualified at Level One! Thanks for keeping me rolling.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

seeing it grow into such a strong tool for information and education. I really appreciated the coverage of the climate change conference.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

great to talk with my email. I have not met them in person. They are responsive and easy to connect with.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

provide great reporting and communication without have to take time for fundraising.

Ways to make it better...

I could think of something to say here, which I can't. Well, it would be great if they were thoroughly funded so they didn't have to take time to raise funds.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

continual funding to ensure high quality reporting. So much is free and accessible on the internet but the staff needs to be paid.

One thing I'd also say is that...

my world would be a lonelier place without Grist. Sometimes it's hard to keep going when you see all the environment decline, but Grist gives me hope and tools to help change what is going on.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?
