Review for A Way With Words Foundation Inc, Austintown, OH, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Our mission is to help cancer patients and those touched by cancer to get through this. By using music, art, poetry and comic books, we are able to reach almost every person. The foundation sponsors the ROCcK Children's Choir. The choir is comprised of patients, siblings and those touched by ages 3-17.The choir performs 70-90 events a year. These children enjoy performing at Relay For Life events, cancer camps, hospice and hope houses. They raise money for transportation and also give those they meet a cd with their songs, or Helping Hands Shirt and books. Money raised by A Way With Words Foundation keeps the ever growing ROCcK Choir in T-Shirts. We also publish poetry , children books and musical cd. "There's Hope in What We Do"

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I'm a survivor, and have lost three of our ROCcK kids to cancer. I know the feeling of despair and isolation. The foundation is there to listen with our "Circle of Friends" , also gives ordinary people a chance to be published free of charge to them. The stories shared inspire and comfort so many,

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Find a way to have consistant funding. We spend most of the day raising funds and although it helps, I feel it takes time away from the hands on time. I'd love to have a bus to transport the choir to their events, Sometimes we have to cancel due to lack of transportation.

Role:  Board Member & I write the kid friendly songs of hope, write the poetry books and children's books.

This group of people, touched so many in a short amount of time. Their compassion for cancer patients and their families are beyond approach. We had the privledge to meet the founder and the R.O.C.c.K. Children's Choir. What a beautiful group of people. They make you laugh, cry and know you are loved.

The kids, adults and volunteers , are so happy to meet you. You know that you're not going through this alone.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

be so proud!

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

We have somewhere to go when treatment gets you down. These people car and use music and art to help us.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

courteous, and genuine in how they talked to everyone. No question was stupid, the items the have for sale, you forgot about because the people only cared about me.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

make alot of people very happy. The books they publish are written by cancer patients, and the authors become famous before they pass away. The children who sing spread so much joy, it's church without guilt.

Ways to make it better...

A news camera was there to catch something so true and wonderful.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

lack of the public knowing they are here. They are the "best Kept Secret" in town. Their biggest problem will be lack of money to fund to keep it going.

One thing I'd also say is that...

we are lucky to have them here ,and it's a rare group of people who help others for the only reason, to help.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2010

Role:  General Member of the Public & met them performing at a new non for profit store at the mall.
