Review for Blue Horse Mukwa Equine Retirement and Rescue Center, Chase City, VA, USA
I started volunteering at Blue Horse when Rabiah first started the rescue in Chesapeake, I have seen it grow from a few horses there to her selling everything and relocating to Chase City for the horses. She could get more land for them there. Rabiah and her volunteers made this move and turned this property from a place where we were told no birds were ever around to a place filled with birds that sing the sun up and down. For Rabiah this is a labor of love, and labor she does. Blue Horse is run solely by volunteers, and when there are none Rabiah is there she has no vacation days or sick days. It's funded by donations, by kind hearted people with a love for animals supporting the great work she does, without those donations Blue Horse will cease to spread the help and love for the animals as well as the people that have been touched. Please don't let that happen.
Review for Blue Horse Mukwa Equine Retirement and Rescue Center, Chase City, VA, USA
I have been with Blue Horse from the Day Rabiah had the idea to start the Rescue. She has Dedicated her life to the horses and other animals at Blue Horse. As a retired Vet. Tech I can say with out a doubt that the animals there receive the best of care. Rabiah is very diligent in filing all of the required paperwork, I remember the day she received her 501C3, not many people know the work that goes into getting that. That is on top of the work that goes into running the rescue. For Rabiah it is truly a labor of love, no matter what the weather she is out with the horses feeding and making sure that each has clean water and the stalls are clean. If the volunteers don't show up she does their work and always has a hug or kiss for the horses. She also takes the time to show a family around or to take a child's hand to help them brush a horse. I have the utmost respect for her and what she is doing. The world needs more people like her. It would be a much better place.
More Feedback
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
Improving the lives of the horses that have to live there. In the community the kids that have come to learn so much not only about the horses but about themselves but about life in general and the ones that are troubled turn around to become productive.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Continue to carry out the same as Rabiah, I see nothing that needs to be changed
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
Watching it grow and watching young people grow to be young adults while still helping out and seeing how it has helped to form their lives. The horses come needing help but they give back too, This is part of the message of Blue Horse.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
Great people that I consider close friends and hope to continue that relationship with.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Do everything that Rabiah has ever dreamed of.
Ways to make it better...
I can't think of any way that my experience could be any better. I love Blue Horse, Rabiah and the horses and am dedicated to them and what they represent.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
The same thing that everyone is faced with in this day and time. The economy. Trying to make ends meet. Rabiah is doing everything she can and doing a fine job.
One thing I'd also say is that...
Rabiah has dedicated her life to this rescue. She would do with out before one of the horses went without a thing. It breaks my heart to ever hear any one speak badly of her or the rescue please know what you're saying before you do. This is a good rescue
