INSTITUTE FOR SHIPBOARD EDUCATION
August 16, 2013

I'm saddened to read the prior posted review.

The basic concept of a Semester at Sea was started in about 1921, according to my old shipboard prof "Dr. T" who got me admission to Wharton MBA and would have maybe Harvard MBA if I had not been too intimidated. This is remarkable because I seldom opened a book!

Dr. T was apparently a young Econ prof in about 1921 and a crusty old curmudgeon prof in 1967, with an inner heart of gold when I took classes from him and goofed off without opening a book. I declined Wharton and Econ and went in a different direction. Dr. T was crusty, unrelenting, grumpy, ... and wonderful when you got to know him and he thought you might have some small spark of intelligence that could be ignited. In my case it was not ignited! I was a naive North Dakota kid who was wide eyed at the world.

I greatly respect Dr. T. and the concept of shipboard education and learning about other cultures.

I also know Guidestar because I have created a community foundation and therefore went here for a reference.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Good question. I'm too busy to be suckered into responding.
