Review for King Street Cats, Alexandria, VA, USA
We adopted one of the sweetest cats I've ever met from King Street Cats in January 2012. Her name is Winky and she's blind in one eye and was flown to the U.S. mainland from the island of St. Croix through a partnership KSC has with an animal welfare organization in St. Croix. My husband and I still comment on all of the effort KSC went through to bring Winky into our lives via this program. KSC's adoption counselors recommended the perfect cat for us and our other cat who was 9 years old at the time we adopted her (and had always been an only cat). Just yesterday, we saw them sleeping right next to each other on the couch; we still can't believe they get along so well. I have now been volunteering at KSC for the past year to help others also find amazing cats like Winky! It is such a rewarding experience to volunteer at such a dedicated organization.

We adopted a cat from King Street Cats over a year ago and we were impressed with the entire adoption process. The process begins with a detailed application and vetting process that was very helpful because when we arrived at the shelter, KSC had picked out a few possible "matches" for us based on our profile and application. The cat we ended up adopting was one of the cats they had picked for us, which shows that they really pay individual attention to each family and genuinely want to match each cat up with people who will be the best fit for both the cat and the people. Since adopting our cat, we have been to several fundraising events and I am pleasantly surprised that people still remember our cat and ask how she is doing. I can honestly say that I have never experienced a more hands-on and truly dedicated shelter as KSC.
