Review for Canines For Service, Inc., Wilmington, NC, USA
Carolina Canines for Service is one of three organizations I donate a significant amount of time to, perhaps to "pay it forward". You just never know when you might be struck with a need for a service animal and I'd like to think I'm earning "credit" while I train a dog that I will "lose" after 2 years. I originally got involved with them through Pet Partners, their affiliation with Delta Society to bring dogs into local schools, hospitals and nursing homes. Animals, dogs in particular, are a tremendous lift to many people and interacting with well-trained and friendly ones has been proven to have many long-term health benefits.
More Feedback
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
the smiles on the faces of the ultimate owner of the service dog when he/she helps them be just a little more physically able to complete normal tasks.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
bring on more advanced trainers to get dogs out faster.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
learning how to train dogs, meeting new people that love dogs as much as I do
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
very helpful and compassionate, wanting to make a difference in EVERYONE's life they touch.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
train more dogs, build a facility for families in need with dogs.
Ways to make it better...
I really can't think of anything
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
getting foster parents and getting advanced training done.
One thing I'd also say is that...
the other volunteers at CCFS are just awesome and, in the end, it's the volunteers that make non-profits run...
