Review for Oasis Sanctuary Foundation, Ltd., Benson, AZ, USA

Rating: 5 stars

For many years we have donated as our way to help all the birds at Oasis and visited and toured years ago. Our two parrots were rescues and we agreed with the oasis philosophy. My husband started to develop health issues and when we were no longer able to have our parrots in our home we were able to know there was a place for them. I miss them terribly but know they are happy and healthy. We will continue to support them as long as we can

They give so many parrots a home that who knows what would happen to without such a facility. As the owner of 2 rescue parrots I know they are not ideal pets but deserve love and care after being removed from their place In the wild by breeding or being caught. They do a lot of good works and deserve everyone’s help

This is the nicest place to visit - they have a great staff and volunteers and they all just love the birds and take such great care of them. We have two rescue parrots and if they outlive us we hope they can have a home here someday so we know they will be loved and cared for as much or more than we are able to. I’m glad they reopened after the pandemic for visitors once again as it is such a special experience to go amd see all the beautiful birds they take care of

After we gave a home to our two rescue parrots we tried to learn more about them and somehow heard about Oasis. Because we are older and our birds are likely to outlive us it is a comfort to know there is a home waiting for them if no one else wants them. We don’t want them neglected or abused in lieu of us being able to care for them. We are including their care in our will and hope our requests are followed. We have visited the Oasis 3-4 times and donate regularly - it is kind of happy sad when we visit - to see all the birds that end up with them because people took on a responsibly they simply couldn’t handle is so sad - yes, there are people like us who age out but many of the birds have behaviors that cause them to be unwanted and for the most part I think birds should be in the wild and not taken in as pets as they simply have not adapted well with humans. Unless and until this selling of birds stops which is highly unlikely they need a place to live out their lives once they have learned to be reliant on care. They can be so loving and fun but I try to see it from their viewpoint and I know our two girls would love to be in the wild and having babies and living free. We will continue to give them a home and hope that people think much harder about having pet birds and all it involves and again are so glad their are places like the Oasis that offer them a lifetime home if the are unwanted or an owner can no longer care for them anymore

This is one of the few places that help birds that for many reasons are no longer able to be cared for by individuals. There are thousands of options for dogs and cats. It's too bad they can't be rehabilitated back to the wild but it isn't to be for these sweet birds. They are difficult as pets and a place like this gives them a happy life and great care. If you can please support them. We have two rescue birds that may outlive us so it is nice to know if there is room they will have a place to go if we can no longer care for them.

We have two rescue birds that share our home and when we heard about the Oasis Sanctuary we were so excited to know that if our birds outlived us since we are not youngsters anymore that we knew they could have a good home if our one relative that enjoys birds was unable to take them if there comes a time we can no longer care for them or pass away before them. We have visited twice and it is just amazing the care that these birds receive. It is also heartbreaking to realize that so many people have no idea what is involved in caring for these birds and then they have problems and no one wants them anymore. They are loved and cared for in the most amazing setting out in the beautiful high country of Arizona. We try to donate what we can in the way of monies and just love the letters and emails they send out telling about the birds and their needs. It is too bad that all birds are not wild and free but once they are used to people caring for them or far from their native homes they must be cared for by someone. The Oasis Sanctuary is a wonderful place for these amazing creatures to live out their lives in peace and

It is so nice to know that there is a place that takes care of birds since they have such a long life if they are well cared for that they often outive their owners or live longer than a caretaker can care for them. I like knowing there is somewhere that will take our "girls" if and when we can no longer care for them or both pass away.
