An amazing organization from both a volunteer and a professional perspective. As I volunteer, it allows me to help out my neighbors when it conveniences me. An email tells me that someone needs a ride. I look at my calendar, determine if I'm either free or going their way, and then just click! What could be easier and more rewarding. Meeting and helping out very intresting and appreciative persons. As a non-profit professioanl I'm amazing how Neighbor Ride 1) defined a problem of seniors isolated in suburbia, 2) designed a highly targeted solutin, and 3) implemented the solution without a lot of overhead or mission creep. Bottom Line: The clients, the staff and my fellow volunteers are all great people wanting to build a better community.
The Great!
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
1. Mainly driving. 2. Discussion with my wife who is a weekly volunteer in the office. 3. Discussing with key staff whom I often see in other community venues.
Ways to make it better...
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Make sure there is no mission creep (none to date) Make sure it doesn't drift towards too much formality and bureacracy (some minor signs showing up)
