Review for Humane Society Of The Dunes Inc, Chesterton, IN, USA

Rating: 5 stars   Featured Review

I cannot thank this organization enough for the experience and knowledge it has given me. Learning to work with animals that have been less fortunate than most has been so rewarding. Jane has taught me so much about the understanding of abused animals that I will never forget. Knowing now that spaying and neutering is one of the biggest concerns of this organization has really opened my eyes and has made me realize the importance of having animals spay/neutered before they are adopted out is the key to a successful future in reducing the numbers of so many unwanted numbers. What a wonderful experience this has been and still is. I am learning something new everyday.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

all aspects of the organization. I have helped in adoptions as well as fundraisers, being able to foster the hard to adopt animals is very rewarding and being able to see one of the hard to adopt animals finally being adopted out into a loving home is a fantastic result.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I really don't see any changes that need to be made. The organization operates quite well with the president overseeing the peration. She is a positive person and it filters down to all the employees.

What one change could this group make that would improve your volunteer experience?

My volunteer is experience was wonderful and still is. I can't see any changes that need to be made.

Did your volunteer experience have an effect on you? (teaching you a new skill, or introducing new friends, etc.)

Definetely. I have brought a few new volunteers in to help. Learning new techniques in handling feral cats has been very helpful. With the educational material that is available at the shelter on spaying and neutering has changed my life in such a positive way. Learning to work as a team and being a part of the team has been so rewarding.

How did this volunteer experience make you feel?

The experience has been life changing. I feel very good about helping this organization. It has given me more confidence in myself and given me the knowledge to help others.

Role:  Volunteer & as I walked the dogs, I feed the animals, I helped socialize the abused animals. The people at the shelter are so positive. The president is really concerned for the animals and gives herself 100%. She is dedicated and committed in helping as many stray, .
