Review for Midcoast Humane, Brunswick, ME, USA

Rating: 4 stars

I have been a donor to the Coastal Humane Society since 2004 and a volunteer since October 2008. Volunteers are treated with honor and respect here and donors are kept informed through a quarterly newsletter and timely acknowledgement of monetary and in-kind donations. Donations are used prudently and without waste.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Hundreds of successful adoptions of dogs, cats and other small animals. the staff being well trained in compassionate care to animals as well as to people. The Executive Director has made many positive changes in customer service and community outreach.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

continue the work started by Karen Stimpson, the Executive Director.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Seeing neglected and homeless animals finding new and happy homes.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

friendly, compassionate and happy to work together toward a common goal.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Construct a new facility to care for a growing number of abused, neglected and homeless pets, find homes for all neglected and homeless pets, extend its education and community outreach already begun

Ways to make it better...

I had begun volunteering sooner. The volunteer coordinator welcomes all volunteers with an open heart and appreciates them.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Outdated facilities resulting in a lack of space to continue the mission and a lack of funds to fulfill the mission.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I appreciate the opportunity to volunteer at CHS and know that my donations are put to good use.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2009

Role:  Volunteer & I was ab;e to implement a program called "Pets for Vets" in partnership with the local chapter of Disabled American Veterans.
