THE CENTER FOR CONTEMPORARY DANCE INC
October 6, 2011
"Journal your frustrations in dance in order to confront and eradicate distractions." I heard Executive Director, Craig W. Johnson, say these words to a beautiful bunch of Pre-Professional Students at the Center for Contemporary Dance. It inspired me to begin my own journal and overtime I've realized how important journalling is to a person's growth and development. Artistic Director, Dario J. Moore, reiterates the importance of this concept during his classes, enforcing an intellectual stimulant that's necessary for a dancer's prosperity in the arts arena. Since the advent of my connection with CCD I have encountered caring, loving, spirited personalities that have influenced the way that I presently perceive the world. Looking back, I feel like I've grown 10 years from the place I started when I first joined the CCD family. My coming to CCD was not only the opportunity of a lifetime, but I believe ordained by God for the purpose He has put on my life - purpose that CCD will definitely help you find. There is no better place to grow than in a loving, grace-filled atmosphere like CCD. Words do not give justice to the untold sentiments I have for the Center for Contemporary Dance... thank you CCD.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
my home life, my educational growth, my technical development, and my perception of life itself.
Ways to make it better...
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
make it accessible to more people, "get the word out," build more Centers for Dance, bring it to an international level, and make grants and financial assets more readily available.
Would you volunteer for this group again?
For the time you spent, how much of an impact did you feel your work or activity had?
Did the organization use your time wisely?
Would you recommend this group to a friend?
Did your volunteer experience have an effect on you? (teaching you a new skill, or introducing new friends, etc.)
My resume looks beautiful in large part due to the Center for Contemporary Dance:)
How did this volunteer experience make you feel?
Every time I entered the studio, my spirit was uplifted - no matter what the task - whether cleaning or running errands - I did it with unfailing joy because I was at the Center for Contemporary Dance.
Volunteer & I cleaned the studio, ran errands, helped with operation and running of the studio, advertised, and fundraised for CCD=).
