My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for Animal Rescue and Adoption Society, Denver, CO, USA
I have been a volunteer since March 2010, and I am the proud caretaker of a lovely black cat from this shelter. The people who work and volunteer at the shelter sincerely care for and love the cats there. Some cats are permanent residents for various reasons, and they are just as taken care of and as visible as any other cat at the shelter. The first time I visited the shelter, I was so impressed with the happiness of the animals, and how clean the facilities were. I will contine to volunteer here for as long as I can!
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
adopting my own feline friend.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
reduce the pressure to adopt more than one cat. Honestly, I don't think "pressure" is the right word. However, I have noticed that some volunteers strongly encourage people two adopt a pair of cats when they are from the same litter instead of just one. I am happy whevever any cat finds a good home. Although I do understand that it can be painful for some cats to be separated from one another, I think that some people may get turned off from adopting if they feel like they have to adopt both cats.
