Review for Equi-Ed, Inc., Santa Rosa, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

What impresses me most about Equi-Ed is the level of dedication and commitment demonstrated by our staff and our cadre of volunteers (many of whom are teenagers!). No detail is left to chance when it comes to supporting our students and taking care of our horses. Each student, most of whom are children, is given the respect and encouragement they deserve and treated as an individual with their own level of abilities and needs. Our instructors amaze me in their knack for challenging, yet supporting each student and the results are there to see. As a volunteer, I work with students weekly and their progress in confidence and ability is plain to see. As a board member, I am privileged to work with such a group of dedicated, caring people and look forward to serving our community to an even greater extent in the years to come!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the confidence, strength and balance that our students develop - actual change can be seen on a weekly basis! And the smiles are great!

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

recruit board members with resources in the community to expand development and marketing and remove some of these responsibilities from the current staff.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

how much all of the staff and volunteers care about the program, the students and the horses. They want to get it right!

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

energetic, smart, caring and dedicated.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

create a facility that would allow us to have lessons year round, in any weather. It would allow us to hire management staff so that the instructors could concentrate more on program development.

Ways to make it better...

I was trained as a therapist and instructor! (Who knows, maybe a second career!)

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

meeting the needs of the future; how Equi-Ed will find the resources to develop its program and facilities to supply the needs of our community for therapeutic riding services.

One thing I'd also say is that...

running a therapeutic riding program is very hard work! I very much respect and appreciate all the effort and care put in by our staff and volunteers. Thank you!
