Review for The Link To Children, Oakland, CA, USA
TLC developed our early intervention mental health model in 1996 to serve low income high risk children in Alameda County. I was on steering committee and then Board when we decided to pursue this model and organization. Fifteen years later we now provide prevention and early intervention services to over 600 children and their families at four subsidized child development centers and three centers in the Oakland Unified School District. We also have an office at the Alameda County Family Justice Center in Oakland, a one stop service center for women and children escaping domestic violence. I have watched the organization grow and meets the needs of children, families and centers where these children spend a fairly large amount of their day. TLC services are located on-site where the children are enrolled. We are committed to supporting the healthy emotional development of young children within a culturally relevant context so they can learn to their full potential. I have been a witness to this accomplishment for 15 years.
