Review for Desert AIDS Project, Palm Springs, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I am very proud to serve as a member of the board of directors. The Desert AIDS Project (DAP) provides an amazing variety of critical services for more than 2,200 clients. With wholesale cuts to funding of programs, medication reiumbursement, education and prevention in the State of California, the DAP is truly the only resource thousands have; it's a lifeline.

As a volunteer I'm often moved to tears when I talk with clients who relate how they moved to Palm Springs to die from AIDS. They then found the DAP and came under our care. Now, five, ten or fifteen years later, these people who came to live out what they thought was the end of their lives, are now leading leading productive and vibrant lives.

No reward is greater than knowing the difference the DAP has made in the lives of so many. And there is great pride in the education and prevention efforts taking place every day, despite no government funding.

As a compassionate source of care and support, there is no organization or staff better than the Desert AIDS Project.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the tremendous positive impact it has had onthelives of those living with HIV/AIDS and those that benefit from the education, testing and prevention programs.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

wand to ensure that more people know about our services, including those that might be afraid to be tested, fearing that they might be HIV+. Everyone that is at risk should be tested. Knowledge is power and knowing your status will make a huge difference in your long-term health.

Role:  Board Member & I have served for many years on the board of directors.
