Review for Pats Memorial Research Fund, Freeland, WA, USA
50 million people in the U.S. live with autoimmune diseases. Pat's Fund has worked for 11 years following the death of Pat Barnes from a blood platelet autoimmune disease 7 weeks after diagnosis to bring attention to the 80 such diseases.
This very effective program has touched thousands of people and donated over $400,000 for research of such conditions as; Multiple Sclerosis, Type 1 Diabetes, Rheumatoid ARthritis, Lupus, Psoriasis, Scleraderma, Celiac's Disease & ITP. More information and donation options can be found at www.patsfund.org
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
Autoimmune diseases run in families My daughter Tracey now has Multiple Sclerosis and Pat's Fund 's work with Benaroya Research Institute in Seattle and the MS Society have both benefited Tracey as well as many others living with these diseases.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
1) Increase the number of Board members and volunteers to spread the information about autoimmune diseases more quickly. 2)Speak to more groups. 3)I would also make stronger bonds with the advocacy groups that support the various diseases. More minds and hands do the work better and faster.
