My son has attended summer camps and vacation programs over the past 10 years and has most enjoyed his experience at SSNSC. The children learn to respect the environment, whether in protecting endangered species and other wildlife and plants, eco-friendly alternatives in everyday life, camping, kayaking, exploring our wonderful New England eco-zone. After a few years I was honored to be asked to join the SSNSC Board of Advisor's to assist in making the SSNSC a wonderful destination for the region's school-age children and adults. My son also looks forward to volunteering at the events such as the Corn Festival, Maple Festival etc and helping with the children's events.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
enhancing my child's educational and social experiences.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
find to get the local schools more involved with the center and enhancing the students' hands on learning experiences.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
meeting new people and having my son meet his best friend of 3 years at a summer camp.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
dedicated, hard working, friendly, knowledgeable.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
have a broader based community outreach program, more publicity, larger functions rooms that could bring in bigger groups for fundraising and/or rental events.
Ways to make it better...
more people would become actively involved in the center's events.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
financial struggles in a down economy, and having people realize that we need to protect and respect what we have in our own backyards.
One thing I'd also say is that...
I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience at the South Shore Natural Science Center and look forward to my family's involvement for years to come.
