Secret Harbor School, founded in 1949, provides a broad spectrum of services and programs to support the growth and success of children, youth, and families in the most effective and least restrictive treatment settings available. Clinical and educational staff use an individualized experiential approach to treatment for adolescent boys with severe emotional or behavioral problems, learning disorders, and chemical dependency issues. In 1998, Secret Harbor established a Foster Care Resources division to serve boys and girls, birth to 18 whose needs cannot be met through traditional foster care. The mission of Foster Care Resources is to provide a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment to children in out-of-home care, and to assist in the development of skills and abilities that will allow for a transition to a permanent living situation such as adoption, guardianship, or placement with their family of origin.
