Founded November 6, 2002, the Mentoring Center Incorporated is a non-profit, 501 (c) (3) public charity focused on education. The Mentoring Center is entering it's second year as a State of Florida approved Supplemental Educational Services Provider as designated by the U.S. Department of Education, No Child Left Behind Act. The Florida Office of Tourism, Trade and Economic Development has also approved our agency as a Community Contribution Tax Credit Program Sponsor and offers Florida businesses a 50% credit on corporate income tax, insurance premium tax or sales tax refunds on donations made to the Mentoring Center. Our mission is to provide equal access to high quality supplemental educational services, career coaching and new business development training to the residents of the nation's most economically challenged communities. Residents of these disadvantaged neighborhoods now have access to a team of seasoned, cross-functional, cross industry professionals and knowledge area experts who are committed to life-long mentoring. The Mentoring Center works closely with local education agencies, aligns it's tutorial curriculum with state standards, acts as a community liaison, provides parental workshops to ensure parents understand and act-on information distributed by local school districts and offers community members workforce ready, basic computing, job search and entrepreneur classes. Our highly qualified team shares their expertise in primary, secondary and post secondary education, marketing, professional development, new business development, accounting, and finance. Each team member and staff person agrees to provide knowledge area expertise and mentoring to registered Mentoring Center participants. The Mentoring Center develops, in-house, interactive, hands-on, computer-assisted curriculum and lesson plans for all its workshops and classes. We are a technology-driven organization. Our classes, workshops, help-desk labs, enrichment and tutorial services are equal to or exceed today's for-profit based training and supplemental educational service providers. Academic, career or new small business, Mentoring Center students can excel and will succeed!
