To eliminate sub-standard living conditions in Silicon Valley for families with low incomes. Along with the community, Habitat helps families with low incomes build and own their own homes.
In 23 years, Habitat for Humanity Silicon Valley has buildt 44 homes. In October 2009 the 50th home will be completed. This will celebrate 50 Silicon Valley families living in simple, decent and affordable housing.

After attending the dedication of two Habitat homes in Campbell, CA in early 2000, I was overwhelmed by the outpouring of support for these new Habitat families and the emotion of getting the keys to their own home. I was convinced that this affiliate would be my charity of choice.
I volunteered on the Site Selection Committee for two years and than accepted a position on the Board of Directors. I will be finishing my third three-year term in June of 2012. I am 73 years old and I can honestly say that the years of volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, Silicon Valley have been the most fulfilling in my life.
If you want the great feeling of serving an organization that changes families lives for generations to come, then Habitat for Humanity is that organization.

Watching 35 families enjoy the excitement of home ownership. These families work on building their own home and put in at least 500 hours as their down payment. The system established by Habitat includes training and assistance to the families via a partnership with Habitat.
