Mission:
First Signs, Inc. is a national non-profit organization dedicated to educating parents and professionals about the early warning signs of autism and other developmental disorders. Our mission is to ensure the best developmental outcome for every child by promoting awareness regarding the most important and often overlooked aspects of development: social/emotional, communication, and behavior. Our goals are to increase early identification through a simple screening method and to facilitate timely referral of these children to early intervention programs. The organization has been established to serve parents, physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, clinicians, early childhood educators, family service organizations, and other professionals working with young children in communities nationwide. First Signs was founded in 2000 by a parent of a child with a developmental disorder.
