Reviews for Creative Dreams Outreach Center Inc
I've grown up attending CDOC and it's just been so wonderful. As anyone else would agree, I have gained so much from being there that now I just want to give back. All I have to give back is my time and so I gladly show up everyday. So many kids go there looking for a place and they find much more. They find a family.
People say this place is like a second home, but I would say its our first home. Everyone here is my family. some times I disagree with them, but at the end of the day we grow a stronger bond. this is the safest place to be they always accept you for who you are
Creative Dreams is a welcoming place where you will always feel at home. The people are like family and you will always feel accepted. Volunteering here has been an experience of a lifetime for the past 6 years. There is so many activities to participate in while here. For someone who is coming for the first time as soon as you walk through those gates you will feel accepted, loved, and welcomed.
Creative Dreams Outreach Center is a great after school program that I have been apart of for 8 years.
They are focused in the arts (art, dance, and music). This place has really been a second home for me by helping me with home work, feeding me and even clothing me sometimes. Jackie Stouffer is really a wonderful person to us and I say us because she loves all of us equally . Every person that walks in Creative Dreams is loved by Jackie in her on special way. I don't know where I would be with out Jackie and Creative Dreams.
Creative Dreams is an opportunity that lets me do things that I thought that I was never going to be able to do. I learned how to dance, draw, paint, and I'm currently learning how to play the guitar and piano. And not to mention the great singing lessons from the singer Savannah Berry. I've been going for five years and now I work here. I don't know how my life would have been and how my connection with God would have turned out if I had never gave Creative Dreams a chance.
From Monday through Thursday I have the opportunity to work with amazing young adults. These kids have changed my life for the better, each day that I come here I learn something new whether it's and instrument, art, or a dance move that I didn't know about before. Coming to Creative Dreams was the best decision I have made in my entire life, I've been coming here since the summer after my 6th grade year. At the time I didn't have any friends, so my mom suggested it. Ever since then my life have changed. Here is where I met my best friends, Julissa, Marcelles and Jazz. I can't stress how amazing this program has been for me! I highly recommend it.
Creative Dreams outreach center is basically my safe place, I grew up here. I started when I was 10 years old and I'm turning 19 next month. That's literally half my life. I love spending time here because I know I can be myself and no one will judge me and that is truly what every teen needs because the problem in our society is kids too worried about what other kids think of them. That was one of my struggles. I know whenever I am un happy I can come here and it'll all change.
I had a privilege to visit Creative Dreams on several occasions over the last 9 years. As a mental health professional with an expertise in foster care and adoption family therapy services, I am always impressed with the level of support clients of Creative Dreams receive on a daily basis. I have witnessed adolescents develop multiple healthy coping mechanisms such as dancing, singing, painting, and various art activities. Creative Dreams provides a safe place and a chance for these young people to experience a sense of belonging, which for many of them has been a significant struggle throughout lifetime and particularly around the critical stage of adolescence. I believe this organization is an active catalyst in the process of restoration of many lives!
Creative Dreams is a place that truly changes the lives of those that enter the doors. I had the joy of volunteering for a number of years teaching dance classes. During this time, I was able to see first-hand how the kids' lives were impacted for the better by simply having someone take the time to see them, to invest in their education, to love them, and to help them see the value of their lives. One of my favorite things was to watch the kids' joy as they learned new things. Beyond the art, dance, and music lessons - the kids at Creative Dreams have the opportunity to learn life skills that will serve them for a lifetime.
Few places offer what Creative Dreams does as part of its core mission. Every day dozens of at-risk kids are fed, take lessons in art, dance or music and get help with school subjects and life skills. It's done at no cost to participants and provided by mostly volunteers. The organization stretches a dollar very far. The only impediment to doing more is to get a better facility, which is on the wish list. I support Creative Dreams because it's a positive place for 11-18 year olds to go instead of doing things that might get them in trouble. It has been around for 10 years and several graduates are in much better places than they would be otherwise. There need to be more places like Creative Dreams and Creative Dreams needs to have a better facility. But it hits the mark in positively impacting the lives of students.
For minimal funding, Creative Dreams touches the lives of many 11-18 year old students in many, positive ways. As an after school program they provide at-risk kids with classes in the arts at no cost. Every kid is provided a healthy meal each night as well. Mentoring, counseling and other life skills programs have been added as volunteers are able. Over the years this organization has positively impacted the lives of HUNDREDS of local youth. Instead of getting in trouble or doing unhealthy activities the kids are getting involved in positive activities. Most kids were failing at least one subject, Now, almost no kid is failing any subject. And the kids are becoming involved in service projects where they are helping others at summer programs, low income areas and other venues. Creative Dreams has evolved from a drop-in for class place to essentially a "teen center" where students hang out, improve social skills, support each other and spend the entire evening. It has become its own support network for participants. It has been an amazing transformation to witness first hand.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Increase the visibility so their is a larger donor base to allow it to be even more impact to more kids. Creative Dreams stretches a dollar very far, but so much more could be done with a larger donor base.
