Mission: Preservation and promotion of the health of the residents of wilkes-barre and neighbouring communities, along with the control and elimination of diseases.
Programs: Environmental, clinical and toxicological testing - clinical blood lead testing for medical assistance patients and providing reduced cost services to free health clinics, bacteriological services for the city of wilkes-barre and its health department, toxicological projects in association with duke university medical center and support for the operating budget of salvation army kirby health center house.
kirby health center dental clinic - to provide dental care and education for children up to the the age of 18 years who are financially unable to obtain the services of a private dentist.
support charities in allied health fields - to provide office space, administrative assistance and financial aid to various non-profit organizations that provide their health related services to the community. Organizations that receive support include victims resources, american lung association, alzheimer's association, blind association, cancer institute, epilepsy foundation, , childhood lead program(pa state lead screening program) and numerous free health clinics in the wyoming valley. The salvation army/kirby family house also receives administrative and financial support for housing and progress of displaced families.
city of wilkes-barre-to make available space for offices, clinics and meetings, perform various laboratory testing(drinking water,school water coolers, recreatiional splash pad testing, fountain/pond/storm drain testing, park maintenance, etc. ) and provide administrative assistance with public health responsibilities
