Mission: Youth Progress Association provides opportunities to Oregon’s at-risk youth. The majority of our clients have either been involved in the juvenile justice system or have no appropriate home resource with whom to live. Our clients typically range in age from 13-24 and come from a variety of backgrounds. Most of our clients have experienced abuse and neglect, and many are low functioning and under socialized. The intent of our agency is to teach independent living skills while addressing the client’s mental and emotional health issues. The causes of misbehavior and destructive emotions are addressed with a structured program fostering empowerment and self-identity through accountability and knowledge. We provide our clients with alternatives and guidance. YPA has a number of programs and in-house resources that address each client’s needs and help build upon his or her strengths. The clients of YPA have access to independent living skills, job searching and maintenance assistance, mental health counseling, drug and alcohol recovery services, GED and high school diploma education, college readiness training, vocational planning, strength-based activities, and case management services. All YPA’s programs and services are structured to help our clients prepare for and achieve a successful transition into the community and into a healthy and productive lifestyle.
