Causes: Developmentally Disabled Centers, Disabilities, Human Services
Mission: Easter seals oklahoma is committed to enhance the quality of life for children and adults with disabilities so they may live with equality, dignity and independence.
Programs: Direct services to patients and communities - easter seals oklahoma provides services to individuals with any type of disability across the state. During the 2014-2015 fiscal year, easter seals served 317 (266 in 2013-2014) clients through the following programs:adult day center - served 68 (52 in 2013-2014) adults with various types of disabilities, both neurological and physical, allowing clients to stay longer in the home setting with their family caregiver. Child development center - served 85 (85 in 2013-2014) clients in an inclusive and intergenerational child development center. Twenty-seven of our clients have various disabilities and are integrated into the classroom setting. Medical rehabilitation program includes speech and occupational therapy. The speech program served 115 (56 in 2013-2014) clients by screening for speech, gross and fine motor skills, sensory disorders, and autism. Speech and occupational therapies are also provided to meet the children's needs. Direct services - we had 5 applications funded for financial assistance in the current year clients. Our funding is for necessary medical and rehabilitative equipment to improve the quality of life of those with varying disabilities. Peer integration - served 44 (51 in 2013-2014) clients by using the applied behavioral therapy to improve behaviors in the classroom setting for clients with various diagnosed disabilities including adhd, missing chromosomes, autism, asperger's and others. Iep's were provided to the teachers and parents to enable them to better work with the client. The bcba also provides parent trainings, teacher trainings, and observations in a classroom setting for children in the child development center and in the public school system.
public health education and information:this area includes costs of training the public to recognize symptoms of ill health and physical disorders; distribution of leaflets, newsletters; health training programs; providing educational materials for school nurses/teachers, physical education instructors, and planning for heatlh-related programs and parent education activities.
professional education:this category includes activities and programs designed to improve the knowledge, skills, and techniques of physicians, therapists, nurses, teachers, rehabilitation specialists; other costs incurred as a result of increasing the number and quality of medical and education workers and volunteers.
