I have witnessed firsthand the commitment of the entire staff at WVRF in North Palm Beach. Their willingness and dedication to help veterans in Florida are truly inspiring. I have so much respect for the people at WVRF, including veterans on staff, Ed Moore and Nick Cannon, under the leadership of the Executive Director and veteran Mike Durkee. Mike is relentless and works hard to help fellow veterans who need urgent financial assistance and critical dental care. He is a beacon of compassion and service for the veteran community.

Hello.
The purpose of this review is to describe my recent dental care as a result of assistance from the Wounded Veterans Relief Fund (WVRF)
My name is Ed McMillan. I am 69 year old USAF Vietnam Era veteran with a small service connected disability. My only other income is from Social Security. I can't afford dental insurance . Prior to the past month I have seen a dentist twice in the last 15 years by a dental practice that gives care to veterans one day a year. They offer limited proceedures, either 1 filling or one tooth extraction.
Several months ago I began experiencing severe tooth pain. I was limited in which foods I could eat. Due to my cardiac disease,a chronic infection from any source can create significant ,long term cardiovascular changes. The pain and potential for worsening of my cardiovascular health created a lot of distress.
The Dental clinic at the West Palm Beach VA Hospital gave me a flyer for the WVRF program. I went on line and filled out the application. Within 1 day I recieved a text from the WVRF to assist me in completing all forms.
I was approved for care soon after
I want to express sincere thanks to all involved in in getting me care. Firstly the generous donors who gave to the WVRF so that myself and other veterans can get much needed care. Then to the WVRF itself for organizing and managing this program. Holly and Ed were my contacts there. They guided me thru the application process and messaged me to follow up on my care. I would also like to thank my social worker at the Veteran's Administration, Ms. Cordelia Smith who made sure the WVRF had all the qualifying information they needed. Lastly I would like to thank the dentist and other staff at USA Dental who did the work. Dr Rodriguez- Torres was outstanding. He did a tooth extraction so quickly and efficiently that I didn't realize he was done. It was the most pain free dental experience I have ever had. His staff are professional, courteous, understanding and supportive. Without a doubt , the best dental practice I have ever had. I have since reccomended them to anyone who would listen.
In summary I am very grateful to all involved in providing this very necessary help
Ed McMillan.

I am a disabled Vietnam veteran that has had severe dental disease for many years. I have suffered with pain, infection and tooth loss to the extent that it became very difficult to eat. I had inquired about dental care with my VA primary care provider multiple times, but they always replied that the VA could not help me. I did not have the financial means to receive the dental care that was necessary, so I just continued to live with it. My concerns about my dental condition were amplified due to the fact that I have cardiac disease and suffered a major heart attack in 2004. I am very knowledgeable about the serious risk to my heart and overall health from chronic dental disease. A family member that is aware of my situation told me about your organization and that is where my healing journey began, both mentally and physically. I am so incredibly grateful to Jade and the entire organization for the help that they offered me and so many of our beloved veterans like me. I also want to extend a huge thank you to all of the many donors that make this all possible. The process has been seamless and the WVRF truly cares about you through it all. I would also like to thank Dr. Person and the supporting staff at Cruzin' Dental for their excellent care. I have had multiple extractions, a root canal/crown and what will be two separate cleanings. Once I am fully healed, I will return for my upper partial impression. God bless you all and God bless our veterans!

I was in desperate need of dental work that I had no extra funds for. The VA connected me with the Wounded Veterans organization and they help me tremendously. From getting numerous teeth pulled to getting permanent dentures. They were always taking care of things and checking on my progress. A huge thank you to Jade (my rep) and the rest of the organization. I now have a smile I can be proud of!

Wounded Veterans Relief Fund

I can hardly find the words to say without it taking away from the appreciation I have for this organization.

When I tell you, it was a blessing, they have no idea how grateful I am to not only receive impeccable service but when have you someone cry with you over the phone is by far over and above.

As a veteran who's proud of her service, seeking ANY type of help is hard. But I'm here to tell ALL my Veterans.... USE YOUR RESOURCES and tell the organization when your treated fairly, but let the ones who dedicate their skills for us know how they are needed and valued.

Thank you Wounded Veterans Relief Fund for reinforcing "That's what we are here for".

Ms. Katie.... I want to do what you do. You're an MVP

Thank you from the depths of this soldier's soul!

(And to the Lee County worker who took my call... thank you for listening and sending me to the right place THE FIRST TIME)

Wounded Veterans Relief Fund, is an outstanding organization. The moment I was introduced to this organization they immediately took a personal interest and nothing but compassion for my health more immediately my dental. I knew from my military service time, I had suffered a great deal of facial, trauma to my head & teeth. It has been identified that high impact or explosion do causes nerves to become weak if not even dead in your teeth, which causes your teeth to become disfigured, etc. So, you see like so many other veterans who suffer in silence because of self pride and not wanting others to see you as being weak, I avoided help in fixing my teeth. Along with the cost of even attempting to get my teeth even back to healthy was out of my price range, because the initial evaluation was in the thousands of dollars. Until one day a very kind, sweet and genuine woman introduced me to this organization. She sat me down and told me, Roy there are alternatives and an organization that we work very closely for veterans such as yourself who may not be able to afford the cost of dental repairs. Lets at least let me reach out to them give them your evaluation from us and see what we/ together with them can do for you. Within a few weeks she called me back with a wonderful voice on the phone so excited I could her. She proceeded to say to me,"Roy they accepted you into the program they are going to pay to have your teeth repaired." I could not believe it. With the help, financial support of this wonderful organization I am grateful and humble by the generosity they gave to me. Because of what they did for me, I am very pleased to say my teeth, mouth is much healthier and I am getting more confident in smiling to people in public again. Thanks to all of the individuals who took time to care for me and my health. God bless you all. Please do whatever you can to continue to support this outstanding organization. They truly care for veterans.

I absolutely can not thank enough everyone over at the Wounded Veterans Relief Fund! I was dealing with a number of issues with my teeth that had become problematic to my health. Unfortunately, I was unable to get dental insurance and V.A. was of little help in assisting me. I was skeptical at first when I first found the W.V.R.F., but applied. To my suprise, they very quickly responded to my application. Within only a few days I was on my journey to a new smile! They connected me with a local dental clinic and from there I received all the treatment I needed. Unfortunately, my issues required a full mouth extraction, but I was fitted with a gorgeous pair of dentures. It had been more than a decade since I could smile with confidence, but the Wounded Veteran Relief Fund gave me my smile back! Thank you!

While serving overseas I was injured and this led to me eventually being honorably discharged from the Air Force and deemed a Disabled Veteran. With the rising costs of everything it has become difficult to keep up with housing, utilities, and food while being on a fixed income and having a family to take care of. I heard of the WVRF program and decided to apply with the assistance of a social worker at my local VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC). It did not take long before I was put in contact with this great organization and all it took was answering some questions, providing proof of service, and describing what financial assistance I needed help with. Had it not been for the Wounded Veterans Relief Fund, I do not know how we would have gotten through the holidays. They were literally the Christmas Miracle I needed to get by until I can find work that will help to make up for the cost of inflation. WVRF was very helpful and I highly recommend them to other Veterans that are in need. Thank you for having my back when I was in need of over watch.

My pool pump went out, then my water well had a pressure issue, then I need all new tires for an alignment issue on my car for safety purposes, and the most devastating event was my brother passing and no family to help pay for his cremations. All of this happened within a 6 week span and I couldn’t pay my mortgage. It wasn’t feasible for us. We got a few payments behind and was stuck. Thankfully this morning I got an email from Wounded Veteran Relief Fund saying that they sent our past due balance to our mortgage company. I woke up with stress and anxiety and now I am able to relax and focus on upcoming holidays and paying it forward. I’m grateful .

My father and I (his daughter and durable power of attorney) are so very grateful for the dental assistance your organization has provided for my father. My father suffered a stroke and has been living with me since December 2022. He was also a victim of elder abuse. His physical health has improved immensely since he has been under my care, yet he still struggles psychologically with the loss of his pride and independence. It’s just my Dad and me here in Palm Beach Gardens, yet thanks to your organization, he knows there are others that appreciate the sacrifices he made for our country. Your organization makes him feel loved and respected and makes me focus on the good people in the world instead of those that victimize the elderly. He is hearing impaired after working with noisy helicopters in the army. His teeth grinding was quite severe, yet your organization helped to improve his smile. Sincerely, Michelle L & My Dad John C

Wounded Veterans Relief Fund was there for me when I had no other options. It was during the pandemic and I was without a job due to Covid 19 and losing my job as an airline pilot that I was about to start. With no dental insurance and no money saved due to school and starting a new career I was at a standstill for dental care after chipping my tooth. WVRF was able to get me in and see Dr Roberts in WPB who fixed my tooth up and got me ready and presentable to interview when the airlines started the hiring process again. I owe my career to WVRF and they are truly a blessing to the veterans of this community!!

WOUNDED VETERANS RELIEF FUND ASSISTANCE APPRECIATION

IN 1966 I WAS STATIONED ABOARD THE USS JAMESTOWN AGTR-3 IN VIET NAM. THIS WAS
A VERY SMALL SHIP THUS WE HAD NO DENTAL OFFICER ONBOARD. AFTER SERVING MY
TOUR ABOARD THIS SHIP I ARRIVED IN JAPAN WITH 18 CAVITIES, 4 INFLAMED WISDOM
TEETH PLUS A 3 TOOTH REMOVABLE PARTIAL PLATE THAT FIT MY THREE MISSING UPPER
FRONT TEETH THAT NO LONGER FIT MY MOUTH. (I KNOCKED MY THREE FRONT TEETH OUT
PLAYING ON SCHOOL DESKS WHEN I WAS EIGHT YEARS OLD. I THOUGHT I TOO COULD BE
BATMAN. OBVIOUSLY I WASN'T) LUCKILY FOR ME THE NAVAL DENTISTS AT KAMI SEYA
AND YOKOSUKA, JAPAN TOOK CARE OF ME, FILLING ALL 18 CAVITIES, REMOVING ALL 4
WISDOM TEETH AND REPLACING THE PARTIAL PLATE WITH A SIX TOOTH GOLD BRIDGE.
THAT BRIDGE LASTED ALMOST 55 YEARS. I REACHED OUT TO THE VETERANS
ADMINISTRATION AND WAS TOLD THAT SINCE I AM ONLY 80% DISABLED, THE VA WILL
NOT REPAIR OR REPLACE THE BRIDGE. I THEN REACHED OUT TO MY STATE CONGRESSMAN
POSEY'S OFFICE AND WAS ASSISTED BY KEITH VAN BUREN. HE UNDERSTOOD MY SITUATION.
MR VAN BUREN REFERRED ME TO THE WOUNDED VETERANS RELIEF FUND AND GAVE ME THEIR
PHONE NUMBER. I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED THEM AND SPOKE TO TAMI MARTIN. I COULD
NOT EVER ASK FOR A BETTER PERSON TO ASSIST ME. SHE TOLD ME WHAT PAPERWORK I NEEDED
TO FILL OUT AND PROVIDE THEM PLUS SHE DID ALL SHE COULD TO EXPEDITE THE PROCESS
DUE TO THE EMBARRASSMENT I WAS EXPERIENCING WITH THE WAY MY MOUTH APPEARED. ALSO
HELPING ME ALONG IN THIS PROCESS WAS/IS JADE SEMBRIC WHOHELPED EXPEDITE MY BEING
REFERRED TO LOCAL DENTAL FACILITIES WHO ARE IN THE PROCESS OF MAKING ME A NEW
BRIDGE, ALL BEING FUNDED BY THE WOUNDED VETERANS RELIEF FUND. I HAD TO
GET TWO ROOT CANALS ACCOMPLISHED BEFORE THE ACTUAL BRIDGE WORK CAN BE DONE.. A
THREE HOUR PROCESS SCHEDULED FOR EARLY NOVEMBER. I AM THRILLED TO DEATH WITH THE
ASSISTANCE I HAVE RECEIVED FROM THE WOUNDED VETERANS RELIEF FUND AND THE FANTASTIC
PEOPLE THAT WORK THERE. I AM SO LUCKY AND VERY VERY GRATEFUL.

I am disabled and on a fixed income. My electric company raised its rates, went from 6 months to 2 months payment arrangments and had given me a lump sum overage from budget billing. I went to other organizations for help and didnt qualify or they were out of funds. It was the most stressful time for me because I cant go out and make any extra income and electricity is a necessity. I even wrote my Congressman for help and was told they couldn't help me. I am so thankful to my social worker at the VA for recommending me to Wounded Veterans they helped me by paying almost all of the bill. As a single Mom and veteran ensuring my son has a roof over his head is essential, and being able to get to work makes that possible. Twice WVRF was able to assist me with fixing both of those things! Fixing my roof and car were two expenses that couldn’t happen within a couple weeks of each other and WVRF made sure those things were taken care of for my son and I. The process was easy and both issues were resolved in a matter of days of going to them for help. Michael and Alana always made me feel like I wasn’t a burden and helping me was the most important priority. Vets don’t often reach out for help as we feel immense shame but that was something I never felt while they helped me!

I was afraid to gain employment as I was told that it may impact my rating. After about five months, having three children to care for, I was forced to seek assistance. Wounded Veterans Relief Fund did exactly that. They were able to assist with my rent and a few major complications with vehicle maintenance. I ended up on unpaid FMLA leave in FL, and the assistance provided by WVRF helped make sure that I did not fall behind on my rent, bills, or gas money to travel to and from the hospital to see my baby and be home to take care of the older kids and wife during her recovery.
Response time from staff was prompt, even during the holiday season, and the service was amazing. I can't thank these people enough!

I served 13 years in the Marine Corps and was medically retired due to combat injuries. I fell behind on my bills due to loss of primary income and was struggling to support my 3 boys and keep our house that we call home. Wounded Veterans Relief Fund saved me and I was able to catch up on my bills and they also assisted me in a financial plan to stay afloat until I find another source of income.

During the covid 19 pandemic. I as many Americans fell short on cash. Was behind with rent wasn't eligible for state assistance. Was about to be evicted. Nowhere else to turn ,almost gave up. Till another veteran told me about your program.
Due to the commitment of helping service members. I was able to catch up on my rent and continue to have a place to call home.

Thank you Wounded Veteran Relief.

"Thank You" - I want to personally thank you for assisting me with my Rent Payment. My account got hacked which caused me to miss payments in Electricity, Car, Insurance, etc., and my rent. I reached out to other agencies because I was not familiar this agency, and each agency stated I do not make enough, but I make too much for their assistance. Stress and Depression did set in. A Family Assistance Representative called me back and informed me to try your agency. Mr. Mike Wade assisted me in where and how to fill out the paperwork for Rental Assistance. He did not hang up on me, or say I can't help you. But instead he said "Let me see what I can do - don't give up". I had a case worker named Lea ALfonzo, who was so kind and patience with my case, as she stayed in contact with me until she informed me she could help me out. Thank you all for being there for individuals like me who - sometimes feel like "Why Try" all they will say is "NO" anyway. Thank you for the two Representatives that was kind to me and made me feel important - thank you

I was let go from my job of seven years and with the pandemic there were no opportunities and I was struggling to pay my bills and live. I depleted my savings and was facing foreclosure and repossession of my only form of transportation. Wounded Veterans Relief Fund stepped in and saved me not just financially but emotionally by giving me hope again. They are assisting me in finding work that I can do with my physical disabilities and ensuring that I don’t feel alone in this struggle. I am very grateful for the assistance that this organization has provided and for the connections I now have with other veterans who have been where I am and are also supporting me.

I’m a veteran who served during Operation Iraqi Freedom. I recently had to undergo back surgery which kept me out of work for 4 months. I used all my savings to sustain me for as long I could. All of my bills had fallen behind and I was about to be homeless and my truck was about to be repossessed. Unable to return to work because I was recovering from surgery I reached out to the VA for financial assistant and I was referred to Wounded Veterans Relief Fund Inc. I explained to the my situation and provided them proof of my hardship and they stepped in immediately to help me out. It was a high weight lifted off my shoulders and I am truly thankful they were able to help a veteran like me.

After 12 years in the Army, it took me a few years to adjust into civilian life. On top of that, I am a single mom of two. Wounded Veteran's Relief Fund helped stabilize a rocky transition into civilian life, by providing rental and chilcare assistance. This gave me room to breathe and heal from traumas and high tempo of a combat ready life. Ultimately making me a better person and a better mom.

I am forever grateful!

The Wounded Veteran Relief Fund is beyond amazing. This program is truly one that is held near and dear to my heart. There are a lot of programs for veterans that claim to do things and when it's time to commit, they tend to take you through mountains of paper work and red tape and still not perform. This organization not only does exactly what they promise, they also work quickly and efficiently to assist their veterans. They helped me and my family when it mattered most and thanks to this team, me and my family are able to rest easy knowing matters were handled and kept us together. Please continue to donate and support in whatever way possible. I promise you it's a life saver.

Two months ago, back in May 30th,2018 we received help from WVRF which is the reason I'm here writhing about it today. My ordeal started back in mid February when our landlord that we have been renting for past 3 yrs and have talked about selling the house to us at some point, sent me a text that i had to move out. He had sold the house to his brother's mother in law that lives right behind us. I had just been back from hospital with my wife which i almost lost twice. It was valentines day and my daughter's birthday was the day after, the 15th 'and here i am with my wife, recuperating, a daughter graduating before the end of May, another one going to college and me with PTSD and Multiple Sclerosis dealing with this on my own. I pleaded with the landlord to give me at least until the end of June so my daughter can graduate and give time for my wife to recuperate and be strong enough for this unpredictable move. It took my wife two weeks to be strong enough before i could tell her the news and my girls. My wife had to stop working 2 years prior because of a health issue Doctors have not figure out to date. We had exhausted our saving in those two years and been living check to check while fixing our credit to buy the house. With all the red tape on renting now it is ridiculous to be able to rent. Application fees, deposits, credit check and all non refundable. We lost lots of money trying to get into and apartment or house to the point time was coming near and we had no place or more money. Got so depressed thought of suicide, how can i let my family be homeless and no one were able to help us. Call the "CRISIS LINE" and they refer me to a few places and came to find out if you are a veteran receiving certain disability you don't qualify because the government think it is enough to take care of a family of 4 and we should not get into any financial burden. Every organizations i was referred to, after me tired of repeating my story every time, at the end would tell me i dint qualify because our income. Not the situation or crisis we are going through in the moment. I was even told by "The American Legion"who had me running around looking for houses to tell me at the end they could not help me with the amount requested cause they are not a bank and only have so much funds. They knew from the beginning my situation and what i needed to be helped but at the end after talking to the landlord themselves they advised me that i should have some kind of credit if i wanted things in life and that the landlord was in his full right to kick us out because he needed his money. After wasting my time and a second suicide attempt caught by my wife as i was doing a good bye note, i contacted my counselor at the VA, Melissa Outman. She thought i have been referred to the WVRF but it was the crisis center that sent the referral to The American Legion. She finally got me in touch with WVRF, Ashley Lunsford. She was amazing and it took less than 2 weeks to help us with the funds to be able to move. American Legion had me running for months knowing my situation and the funds i needed and at the end they gave the landlord the right and i was wrong for not having the credit or savings for this kind of crisis. On top of that at the end they told me i was denied and that the most they could've help me with was $900 and i needed at least $2300 to move out to a new place, which was told repeated times. I was at the end of my rope and i was driving Melissa Outman and Ashley Lunsford crazy. Also our luck we found an actual Landlord who we talked personally and told them our story. Mr. Edward Salazar was in charge of renting his daughter's house, Victoria Salazar, and after hearing what we have been put through, he waited for the funds to be available and hold the house for us. We moved in on May 30th, the same day we had to vacate our old rental property. Wounded Veteran Relief Fund is an amazing organization and Helped us with $2400 that we needed to move in and did not turned me down for my disability rating and income. They saw the crisis and helped a disable veteran see his daughter graduate from High School and live in a home for years to come and in the future when we fix our credit, it will be our forever home. If not for your organization and compassionate people like Melissa Outman, Ashley Lunsford and Vicky which stepped in when Melissa was out sick, i would not be here writing this so that others in my situation or worst , know that they can always count on this organization and the compassionate staff every step of the way to a resolution. Thank you Wounded Veterans Relief Fund and all you wonderful personnel and especialy to Melissa Outman, Ashley Lunsford and Vicky which i didn't get her last name.

I never knew an organization, such as Wounded Veteran Relief Fund existed until I volunteered for Mission United and a co-worker mentioned it. I was in desperate need of a vehicle for my new job, which requires its employees to do outreaches at various places each month. But the angel in this was the family who donated the vehicle to me and I want to thank them for remembering veterans like myself and others who sometimes need a helping hand getting back on our feet. I also want to thank Michael Durkee for finding the vehicle and Jim Champion for driving it from Naples and Nick Casas and his team at Tire Kingdom for fixing everything on the vehicle. These gentlemen have gone above and beyond the call of duty to assist me in obtaining my vehicle and to make sure it’s in driving condition. The Wounded Veteran Relief team has shown me that I still have a military family that will still fight by my side no matter where I go. Because of this amazing blessing from Mr. Durkee’s organization, I will be able to do my job more effectively, go back to school, volunteer at other locations and attend church more frequently. Having a vehicle is freedom to me and there are no words that can truly express how much your company has changed my life for the better and blessed others that I am now able to assist. Thank you once again for your assistance with “Jade” the car. My heart is overflowing with so much joy.

Not a lots of questions asked, no tons of paperwork to be filled out. They selection process was fast and easy, they also like to put a human touch during the process, very caring and humble people.

Wounded Veteran Relief Fund was there for me when the VA was not even able to return a call.
This organization kept me from being homeless, and now I am at least financially self-sufficient. When shelters were turning me away because I have a seizure detection service dog, Wounded Veterans helped me get into a safe place that is my own. The VA did not even recommend Wounded Veterans Relief Fund, the Catholic Church did. Its a shame, or not, that a church knows veteran related services better than the VA that "serves" me.

I thank them and include them in my prayers.

Respectfully,

Wounded veterans relief fund helped me on two separate occasions when I was unable to pay rent and bills due to sudden unemployment. Without hesitation they called my landlord, debtors, bank and utilities and took care of everything for me so all I had left to worry about was me! After 8 years of active duty Air Force and several yrs of government work after that, life transition into the civilian workforce was complicated. Especially into a field that has such high turnover and burnout rate, serving addicts and alcoholics as a mental health and drug counselor. The military always had my back financially and the support was tromendous, but it all felt like it disappeared after separation and I was left divorced and on my own. The WVRF bridged the gap for me twice over now making me feel like I’m still part of the team of heroes I left behind. I get to be a part of a new team of heroes now- wounded heroes who help other wounded heroes! I thank God for them!

Wounded Veterans Relief Fund Inc is by far a true life line of support for veterans. Being a humble person I must write about my story to possibly help other veterans. I have met some amazing veterans while volunteering at their events. I do not consider myself needy. Three years ago at retirement my life savings was lost due to unforeseeable circumstances. I received assistance with my mortgage payment (One month) until I could get my life adjusted to the Real World. This past year I had a problem getting my auto insurance to pay for the repair or replacement of my cracked car windshield. I explained my situation to a representative, I was asked to complete the administration process and a few days later i was contacted to have the repair done. My sincere appreciation to Wounded Veterans Relief Fund Inc. I have no reserve when it comes to advocating, donating or volunteering for such an amazing VETERANS support organization. Thank you...Thank you again for your service to country and fellow veterans. You continue to exceed my expectations in support of veterans!!

WVRF,
I wanted to take a moment to thank you for all that you have done for me and my family. After Hurricane Irma, we had a lot of damage to our home, putting us into a very tough predicament.
I am a medically retired Army Veteran with progressive kidney failure due to a service-connected injury. I spent 11 years in the service and had aspirations of making a career of it but that dream was cut short because of my condition. It is so nice to know that there are people, such as the Wounded Veteran Relief Fund, who care about me and my family.
We are so grateful for the Wounded Veteran Relief Fund and their generous donors and supporters. With their help, we were able to get the repairs to home that we so desperately needed. We cannot thank you enough for being there for us through a very difficult time.
