Winter Growth also participates with The Center For Aging Studies thru UMBC and University of Md to further staff development designed to encourage clients to function at their highest level whenever possible.
My mother was a resident at Winter Growth (Ruth Keeton Center) for over eight years. I am so grateful for this community, It was a great comfort to me that my mother was truly loved and cared for by her Winter Growth family.

My mother has been part of Winter Growth (Ruth Keeton Center) for seven years and she is thriving at 92 years old!! I am so grateful for this community, I am comforted daily that my mother is truly loved and cared for by her Winter Growth family.
My father started attending the day program 3 years ago (2016) and then became a resident 2 years ago (2017). Winter Growth is a GEM. The day program provides stimulation with a variety of activities and folks grouped by ability - exercise, games, outings, visiting therapy dogs and musicians, and a nutritious HOT lunch (more like dinner). Facility is clean and the staff is caring and patient. In fact, the staff knows my father so well they can tell when something is not quite right and they let me know. It is also much more affordable than many in the area. I am so happy I found this place.

My father started going to Winter Growth after my mother died. Staff always greet him with a smile and guide him to activities. After 6 months of going each day, he moved into the residence hall in Olney. I visit often and can tell he is in good hands. He has the stimulation of being around other people for meals and activities and when he wants quiet time, he can rest in his room. I don't need to worry about this medication or food choices. The staff knows him so well that they can tell when something is off and they promptly share their concerns with me. I think many people wait too long to participate in the day program. It can really provide a purpose, stimulation, and social interaction which everyone needs.
I highly recommend Winter Growth - both the residential assisted living and the day program.
The staff at Winter Growth is top notch - compassionate, kind and very supportive. My husband is very young to attend (50s) and just loves the companionship and activities. Winter Growth has made such a difference in our lives and we will always be grateful for the opportunity to attend several days a week.
Winter Growth has provided a life changing experience for our special needs son Patrick for the last five years. Our family and friends marvel at his incredible growth in verbal skills, social skills, and personal care skills.
His daily interactions with the Activity Leaders and Staff, as well as the other Winter Growth clients provide an atmosphere of patience , kindness and love. They have proven to be his very best teachers.

I have been associated with Winter Growth for many years. I have been extremely impressed by the caring attitude of everyone from management on down. They focus on what is good for the individual client, whether it be in their day care program or assisted living programs. They offer services and programs that are aimed at maintaining the dignity of the individual and helping them age in place in a healthy manner. I highly recommend them and their services.
Winter Growth cares for an 85 year old woman for whom I am guardian. The adult day program they provide during the day keeps her stimulated and smiling even now that her dementia has progressed to a high level of severity. They have met her social and medical needs at each stage of her illness. Assisted Living staff who care for her evenings and overnight have also provided gentle, person center care. I chose Winter Growth over the large assisted living complexes and the small group homes because I found the dynamic activity program and personalized nursing care of this non-profit agency to be superb.
Winter Growth helps older adults have meaningful moments each day they come to the center. What a wonderful experience to smile and laugh!!!
My relationship with Winter Growth began when Mom was no longer able to stay by herself during the day while I was working. The staff was always very cheerful and kind to Mom. She was guided into joining in the day activities. Because of this she remained very attentive and stimulated. Winter Growth staff always made Mom smile.
Winter Growth was by my side as I said good bye to Mom. She always received good care. Mom was never in any pain. She received excellent care.

Wintergrowth is invested in the daily and residential care of our most treasured seniors. Located in both Howard and Montgomery Counties, they offer a range of services with loving care for the elderly including transportation, day care with activities, residential care with onsite nursing, and respite care for those families in need of a break from their daily tasks of caring for their elderly loved one.
Winter Growth has a great staff, management, and facilities. I have volunteered at the organization for many years, and residents always seem happy and are very well cared for!
Thank goodness for this small, intimate, caring assisted living facility which offers a wide variety of services, social, recreational and stimulating for a diverse population of individuals who are in need as they are growing older. The staff is respectful and caring. Individuals are encouraged to participate in a variety of activities and create a special community.
It is reassuring to know that my sister is well attended to and well cared for. There is periodic opportunity for case conferencing with families to ensure that needs are met in an ongoing way. All input is encouraged and welcome.
I can't tell you how happy I am with WG. They are taking such good care of my husband - I couldn't take better care of him myself. He loves it there. He has made many new friends and when he comes home on the week-ends he asks me when he is going back . My doctor recommended WG to me and I can never thank him enough. He knew that WG would be a good place for my husband (and myself - as it gives me a break during the week). WG has relieved all of my anxieties about caring for my husband as I know he is getting the best care in the world.
We explored the Medical Day and Respite Care program for my dad (and mom). We found it to be one of the few organizations that offered these programs in the area. My (82 at the time) rapidly went from fully independent to needing nearly full-time assistance/watchful oversight. My mom took on the role of full-time caregiver. That prompted us to look for options for my dad for socialization but would also support his medical needs (peg tube for feeding and medications) plus respite options for my mother. After talking with and touring Winter Growth it became clear that it would be a great option - not any easy thing to find given my dad's medical needs. It offered the flexibility where my dad could still live at home (his # priority) but be able to use these programs as well a day or two a week. We had found a perfect solution. NOTE - we were not able to move forward with this plan as my dad's situation deteriorated with his mobility and some other factors - though he has since stabilized somewhat
Walking into Winter Growth, the genuine care and compassion shown by staff members is striking. Clients are clearly considered family and all are made to feel that they belong and have something to contribute. Beyond the warm atmosphere created by Winter Growth's experienced staff, clients share an incredible passion for living each day joyfully that is absolutely contagious.
