Mission: In response to the needs of the physically disabled, the wilson research foundation is dedicated to providing funding for research, education activities and technology in support of mississippi methodist rehabilitation center.
Programs: The wilson research foundation is the primary support for methodist rehabilitation center's clinical research and education program, known formally as the center for neuroscience and neurological recovery at mrc. Over the years, the foundation has raised and given more than $7 million in grants to support research studies, train therapists in the use of innovative technologies, introduce new therapies, and help patients get back to their lives as quickly and fully as possible. This has resulted in 276 manuscripts currently in publication in medical and scientific journals, advancing rehabilitation medicine to better manage conditions such as debilitating muscle spasticity. With the foundation's support, the mrc researchers now have 4,500 feet of dedicated research space, including a state-of-the-art neuro robotics lab, motion analysis lab, adaptive computing lab and various therapy systems on the patient floors that serve dual roles in patient therapy, and research. Provided a grant in the amount of $651,326 to methodist rehabilitation center for its' clinical research program, which also provides education and technology transfer into clinical practice, as it pertains to recovery from disabling illnesses and injuries, such as stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury and loss of limb.
