Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Human Service Organizations, Human Services

Mission: To provide resources and opportunities needed by children, adults and seniors of williamson and burnet counties to realize educational growth, economic self-sufficiency and improved quality of life.

Programs: Head start prepares children from low socio-economic homes or with disabilities to become successful school students and members of society. We work with them educationally, socially, physically and emotionally. The entire family is assisted and trained on how to support their children in the educational process as well as basic parenting, finances and other life skills. We served over 800 children ages 0-5 at centers in bartlett, burnet, florence, georgetown, granite shoals, hutto, leander, liberty hill, marble falls, round rock and taylor.

wbco operates a meals on wheels program and six senior activity centers. Mobile senior citizens congregate at the activity centers for weekday balanced nutritional meals, games, special presentations, visitation and friendship. Wbco is the local meals on wheels provider for williamson and burnet counties, delivering daily weekday meals to the homes of senior citizens unable to physically come to the activity centers or cook for themselves. For many seniors who live alone, this daily delivery from volunteers is the only human contact they receive on a daily basis.

housing assistance provides affordable housing to qualified low-income families. Wbco owns and manages a 152-unit affordable multi-family housing complex in leander for income-eligible households.

social services include various community services assisting elderly, low-income and handicapped participants with nutrition, housing, energy and emergency services.
