I'm so glad we discovered the West Shore Wildlife Center. We found an abandoned days-old bunny in our yard and took him to Emily, the owner of the non-profit. Emily is so compassionate with the animals and gifted in caring for wildlife. This is truly her passion. I love reading all the success stories on the Wildlife's facebook page and seeing the rehabilitated animals released back into their natural habitat.
We found an abandoned newborn bunny in our yard and took him to WSWC. We hadn't heard of this wonderful place before but we've been following them on social media ever since. They do essential work in our community. Not only do they seem to have an amazing success rate, which testifies to their competence, but they treat even the smallest creatures with compassion and love. They also do an excellent job educating the public about wildlife. They nursed the bunny and released him in the wild, where he belongs. I can't praise this organization enough! We are so fortunate to have WSWC near us.
When our dog came flying in our house to throw an injured baby bunny in our lap this summer, we reached out to west shore wildlife center among several other places. After we found three more babies thrown around our back yard (at least two injured). We knew we didn’t know how to properly care for the tiny babies, they responded right away and we were able to drop all four babies off that evening to a very knowledgeable and polite staff member so they could get the care they needed before returning home!
So absolutely thrilled that West Shore Wildlife came to be. We do not have any close wildlife rehabilitation centers in the Harrisburg area. To say they are beyond busy is an understatement. They provide such important care and needs for our local critters!! A wonderful addition to our community!! Thank you West Shore Wildlife for all the love you have shown for our WILD!!
Emily and her volunteers answered questions about our injured snapping turtle after 7pm and provided guidance on capturing the big boy. We transported him that evening and she was ready to receive after 9 pm. They provided awesome care and we were able to release him into our pond several weeks later. These volunteers are extremely devoted to their charges.
