Wesley Family Services recently determined that a child involved in an extremely contentious custody case NOT receive counseling despite a PCP recommendation that the child would benefit from counseling BOTH before and after they completed their assessment. The assessment was done by a therapist and her supervisor.
There are MANY concerning issues in this case that were not accurately reported in the assessment.
The father has a now adult daughter who was cutting, engaged in delinquency, drug use and was even reported by the news as missing. There are allegations that he coerced her into sleeping in bed with him as a child. Father is now doing the same thing to the subject child in this case and despite the supervisor admitting to mom that the child admitted to her that he disclosed sleeping in Father’s bed “with the dog” they still refuse to provide services to the child.
Father is into questionable images and has “couple pics” of 6 and 7 year old children on HIS bedroom mirror. Apparently Wesley Family Services thinks this is ok as they were shown these photos as well.
Interestingly, there were blatant lies told by the custody evaluator and GAL during the custody proceedings. They reported that there were no safety concerns in Father’s home. It has since been proven that there is BLACK MOLD and also another TOXIC mold present that the child has been proven to be allergic to.
Mother provided dated photos of the child’s bloody toenails that he chews as well as photos of him clearly showing anxiety in the meat section of a grocery store.
The child drew the attached drawing soon after Father listed him as a witness in his pretrial statement and he was stuttering. He told Mom that his Father was acting like his former, married girlfriend who has been on Suboxone for years and whose own son filed a PFA against her. Mom asked the child what he meant by that and if it would be easier to draw since he was having a hard time verbalizing what happened.
The assessment reflects many inaccuracies regarding what Mom reported. Apparently the therapist wasn’t even listening and is clearly incompetent.
The Father is so resistant to transparency that he filed a “private dependency petition” and asked the state to take custody of the child shortly after Mom’s custody was restored. (He gave the child his inhaler on the way to a Pulmonary Function Test in order to skew the results.)
Wesley family services “brokers” aka pimps out foster parents and makes a considerable amount of money doing so. Custody evaluators are the linchpins that courts rely on when terminating parental rights. When that happens a lot of money changes hands due to title IV funding and adoption incentives.
Recently a Termination of Parental Rights appeal became public and the specific evaluator who ignored allegations of abuse in this particular case worked on that case with a representative from Wesley Family Services.
It wouldn’t look too good for the custody evaluator if previously ignored allegations of abuse were to come to light now would it?
Not only is Wesley Family Services incompetent it appears that they are possibly corrupt as well.
I watched the music therapy department of Wesley Family Services change lives for years. I saw devastated families ready to give up blossom into hopeful people. I watched nonverbal children become verbal. I watched children with aggressive behaviors become docile. I watched happy children become even happier. Now, I watch my own son express himself via music, and singing. A man who would lash out on anyone around because he didn't know how to say that he was hurt or confused. He holds that microphone with a passion and a new life where he has a voice. Thank you for giving my son a voice.
I’m a 5 + year resource/pre-adoptive parent with Wesley Family Services. Without them, I never would’ve had the opportunity to foster and adopt my daughter. We’ll be forever grateful to Patrick (Wesley’s Placement “Expert”...at least in our opinion) for bringing us together. We have received great support from our case managers and all of the administration. The holiday events that they hold for the children are wonderful too!
This is truly a wonderful agency with so many programs! I work for the foster-adoption program and I can't say enough good things about my foster parents and the staff that we have to support them. Every child deserves a loving family, and while sometimes a child's family is not in the position to provide that care, our foster parents step in to provide the stability and security that child needs. It may not always be easy, but it is definitely worth it!
I have been a resource parent thru wesley for almost 4yrs now. I can say they are the most amazing group to be a part of and I'm proud to call them my 2nd family. They make everything as easy and doable as possible.
Definately always doing whats best for the children and the familes..
With a sister that is on the autism spectrum, I know how challenging the lives of those with autism and other developmental disabilities can be sometimes. Wesley Family Services, through its dedicated and caring staff, truly inspires and transforms the lives of many across the lifespan. A wonderful organization that continues to better the lives of those in the Greater Pittsburgh Area!
I have witnessed so many staff go above and beyond to provide various types of supports for children, youth, adults and families who struggle in various ways. Staff constantly talk about how the individuals they service are the most important part of their job! It shows in their dedication and hard work. Quality staff doing quality services.
The people at Wesley are super committed to providing great service to kids, families and adults. The work they do can be challenging at times but they always look for a way to get results. I with the agency in an admin capacity but the front-line staff who serve people have always impressed me.
My daughter has been a student of the Creative Arts program for the last six years and the program has benefited her in so many ways. She is able to be herself and !earn at her own pace and has gained an extraordinary amount of confidence in her abilities in the process. She has uncovered talents that she wasn't aware that she had as well. Very happy to be a part of the Creative Arts family.
My stepdaughter really benefitted from the wrap-around services provided by Wesley . I learned about the great work the organization was doing and became a corporate sponsor to give something back in return.
I have been an autism advocate for many years and referred many families to the schools and programs of Wesley Family Services. They have committed and caring staff members .
Working with the Engage team at Wesley Family Services has been a great experience. Their team members are knowledgeable and they are always willing to help other professionals and the community. They do life-changing work and we are glad to have them in our community.
As a volunteer in their Creative Arts program for children and young adults, I have watched the therapists bring children who do not talk at all to becoming quite social and even enjoying singing in front of a crowd. I have observed the therapists teaching these same children how to properly express their feelings and observe and respond properly to others feelings as well. It is an amazing thing to watch.
