Mission: More commonly referred to as WHIDC (pronounced "WIDIK"), this not for profit local development corporation was organized in 1978 to serve the residents and businesses in the Washington Heights and Inwood section of northern Manhattan. WHIDCs initial programs centered on commercial revitalization and housing development. In recent years our priorities have shifted to the provision of assistance to local micro businesses and the development of activities designed to encourage investment in our community. A recent change in our incorporation allows us to provide services throughout greater Harlem and adjoining Bronx communities.
