Mission: The washington center for nursing (wcn) is the nonprofit statewide nursing organization whose goal is building a diverse, highly qualified nursing workforce to support a healthier washington.
Programs: The program services expenses were for analysis of advanced registered nurse practitioner population using the minimum nursing data set, providing snapshots of the lpn, rn and arnp population in washington state, survey the wa state student nurses association to identify effective strategies to increase recruitment and retention of diverse nursing students, provide leadership education for the council of nursing education in washington state (cnews), work with cnews to begin revision of the master plan for nursing education, provide follow-up workshop on multicultural education for nurse faculty and community members, providing the department of health and nursing care quality assurance commission with an evaluation of effectiveness of the diversity mentoring program,sponsoring a statewide conference on increasing diversity, to convene stakeholders to discuss implications and dissemination of nursing supply data, a seminar on transition to practice for non-acute care settings, enhancing web and social media sites each year, sponsor a newspaper in education in at least one major wa newspaper, and production of a video (entitled it takes a village: promoting diversity in nursing).
