Causes: Arts & Culture, Media & Communications

Mission: VSA arts of Georgia provides access to the arts for people with disabilities and those with low income. We are a statewide resource working with artists and organizations to fulfill our vision of an inclusive community that encourages everyone to enjoy and participate in the arts.

Results: In business since 1974, this organization directly touches the lives of more than 120,000 Georgians each year.

Target demographics: all Georgians who have been touched by arts and the experience of disability, living with low income or other circumstance that is considered a disadvantage

Programs: Arts for all gallery hosted or co-hosted 9 exhibits showcasing the work of 28 artists and welcomed more than 9,000 patrons. We maintained partnerships with exhibits at the main branch of the fulton county library, georgia state, ponce city market (through a partnership with the creatives project)and at the offices of the state council for independent living in decatur, ga, and was a partner at the new "mobility expo" in gwinnett county, providing the arts component for the event. We continue to be the state's leading resource for access related best practices in the arts for the state arts council and we are included in the grant application criteria for the fulton county arts council and the office of cultural affairs in the city of atlanta in this capacity. We participated in 5 professional development events that drew more than 135 people and did three consultancies with area arts organizations just beginning their work into access. We welcomed 3 groups of returning wounded veterans for 4 week residency type programs. Finally, we continue to increase the number of tickets distributed in the community events program each year as presenter and venues come to depend on us as their outreach and access component.
