Programs: Five to eighteen-day programs for american volunteers who work unpaid in israeli warehouses, clinics, bases, and kibbutzim and participate in daily educational programming to improve relations and understanding among diverse people. Approx. 5670 days worked in 2017 for 546 volunteers. 22% of 2017 volunteers were students. New vfi plus program established in 2016 to incorporate volunteer service with structured touring and cultural programming while off base. First vfi plus trip took place early in 2017.
As a volunteer and current Board Member, I can attest that VFI is an organization that is proud to assist the State of Israel. Returning volunteers frequently state that the VFI experience has made them aware of a very different way of learning about the State of Israel to contrast the typical sights visited by tourists.
