I have worked there and fostered puppies for them and they are the most caring and generous people you ask for !! They do the best they can with what help they have . Please donate or volunteer in you can . It is so rewarding
We adopted our sweet Trixie Belle from the VBSPCA in February 2017. She's 1 1/2 years old now and is absolutely PERFECT...our dream dog!! The shelter was fantastic to work with...their dogs get a lot of socialization, so it was easy to see their personalities. They know their dogs really well and were able to help us narrow down a perfect fit for our household - we felt they really cared about the animals and making sure they find a perfect home. The adoption process itself was simple and we felt a huge bargain...our dog came with her shots, spay surgery, and microchip included for cheaper than what we would have paid at a vet. Whenever we have friends looking for a pet, this is the first place we send them. Couldn't recommend them highly enough!!!
The staff at the VBSPCA work tirelessly to protect the welfare of all animals. They are devoted to the mission of creating a more humane and compassionate community and demonstrate this with the over 4000 animals served annually. Their goal is to find these animals happy, healthy and loving homes. I know that my donations are being used towards that purpose and I applaud the good work being done everyday.
I am a volunteer photographer with the Virginia Beach SPCA. I am guided by one of the staff (assistant marketing) who tells me which adoptables need pictures. I also take pictures during special events. The dog running in the grass was a candidate for the "Animal Planet Puppy Bowl" and was selected for the show based on this photo. I have been doing this for over a year and enjoy it very much. The work is rewarding, especially when an animal is adopted within a few days of taking a picture. It is also not overwhelming. I envision doing this indefinitely.
We have adopted Several dogs through the Virginia Beach SPCA and have always been 100% satisfied with the experience. Highly recommend!!
I have three rescue cats at home, the last of which, Mr. Jed, I got from the VBSPCA. They were very professional and very helpful. They made the process easy and pleasant, and I have a beautiful and healthy little friend. Many thanks to the VBSPCA
My family rescued two dogs and were in need of neutering services and dog training services. The VBSPCA "Neuter Scooter" mobile medical van came to a shopping center in our neighborhood. The service and care to our pet convenient, affordable and the care was great. The second dog was neutered at the clinic at the shelter and the care was also excellent and affordable. In addition we used Happy Paws for our dog training. This is an amazing organization doing so much good in our community. The VBSPCA deserves community support
It is a great privilege to work with the dedicated staff and volunteers of the VBSPCA and to be a part of an organization which has such a profound impact on thousands of animals and people in Virginia Beach and numerous other communities each year. The energy and enthusiasm of the people who tirelessly devote themselves to animal welfare is truly remarkable. I can think of very things in life which bring more joy than uniting an animal with a forever home.
The staff are very dedicated and passionate about helping all animals. The VBSPCA is not just a shelter, but they offer clinic services , a neuter scooter, training and a variety of educational programs. The VBSPCA partners with other shelters to help animals get adopted and to share best practices and ideas. The VBSPCA is a leader in the industry.
VBSPCA does a phenomenal job of finding permanent homes for thousands of animals each year. It is so effective that it routinely takes in transfers from other shelters that are overwhelmed and finds homes for them as well. VBSPCA has taken in animals from Puerto Rico, New Orleans and the Far East. VBSPCA provides services for pet owners who cannot afford veterinary services and it has a mobile Neuter Scooter to provide spay and neuter services for underprivileged and remote areas. SPCA runs reading and compassion classes in the local school system. It is truly a great asset for Virginia Beach and the surrounding communities.
The Virgina Beach SPCA’s work and mission is one that affects the lives of thousands of animals and individuals every year. Their tireless efforts not only create forever homes for adoptable animals, but they create community compassion and awareness.
As a teacher, I have worked with the Virginia Beach SPCA for over ten years. This is a caring and compassionate organization that helps in every aspect of animal welfare. They provide excellent care for animals including sheltering, play time and vet care. VBSPCA reaches out to the community with education programs and low cost vet services. The Virginia Beach SPCA is one of the best groups I've had the pleasure of working with and supporting.

I am a second grade teacher in VIrginia Beach who has had the pleasure of having Jesse C. bring the SPCA's "Compassionate Classroom" to my classroom. She meets with my second graders once a month and they look forward to her visits. Ms. Jesse is wonderful with the children and the program is very interesting and insightful. The children are getting vital information at a young age to help them become better caretakers and to appreciate animals and nature. They also LOVE getting to see and pet the different critters she brings with her when she visits! I know the children are gaining compassion and uselful information from Jesse and the fun lessons she brings. We are fortunate to have her! Teri Volkman

The VBSPCA has been an AMAZING organization, generously donating their time and services to our elementary students. We have had the privelege of working with the VBSPCA for several years now and every year is an incredible experience. The VBSPCA comes out to do their 'Compassion Classroom' with our second grade students once a month. The program aligns beautfully with our curriculum and the students are always excited to hear the lesson and meet the critter of the month. In addtion to the 'Compassion Classroom' the VBSPCA always does their 'Tale for Tails' program with the students at our school. Our experience with the staff at the VBSPCA has been nothing but pleasurable and enjoyable. We absolutely LOVE working with them and look forward to many more wonderful years together! Thanks for all you do VBSPCA!

My relationship with the VBSPCA has been both a professional and personal one and both have been rewarding. However, the ongoing relationship I have with the organization is one of the most rewarding experiences ever. Each month the VBSPCA sends an educator into my classroom to teach lessons about animals, both wild and tame, and each lesson meets the objectives for my grade level and is related to topics I teach. The educators have always been well informed, great with the students, and very professional. My students always looks forward to their visit!

My relationship with the Virginia Beach SPCA began several years ago when I adopted an animal from them. I was so impressed with the organization that I became a member and eventually made a career-change in order to align myself with them professionally. I believe in the core values of the organization; these values seek to promote empathy, tolerance, respect and compassion among all living things.
While it is not my intention to spend my entire life in Virginia Beach, I certainly do plan on being a financial contributor to this organization, forever. I have had a first-hand look at their fiscal responsibility, and it is certainly an organization I believe in supporting.

My name is Jack Huh and I have been involved with the V.B. SPCA for a couple of years now. I went to them with no special skills on interacting with dogs but that was not an issue, they simply said we will train you. That is exactly what they did. Learning how to make a difference in the life of a dog and help with the process of adoption is a very rewarding experience.
This shelter places a major effort on the rehabiliation of dogs. This is not just a holding area for dogs, it is much more than that. These dogs are socialized, exercised and taught commands that will help them find their new forever homes.
Most dogs enter shelters through no fault of their own. Their owners simply have not spent the time with them that is required to make them part of the family.
The volunteers at this facility are guided by exceptionally capable people and safety is a number one concern for all.
This shelter is responsible for making my efforts in this area a passion for me.
